This was a lone mushroom on the third flush.
I haven’t tried any of these recent ones myself but my friends have been liking them.

Had some new pheno show up going back to the OG nat print. Last batch was super snakey but this one looks like it's gonna be more normal.

Previous Nat octoberish....

I actually did have some tubs with that same pheno. It’s like they mature too soon so the base is oversized.
This particular mushroom was pretty normal inside, but all the weird clones I’ve been running lately have been extremely spongey.

So, I wasn't feeling so good the last couple of days and also didn't check up on my grows. This is how the nat's are looking now, quite strong overlay. Not sure if I should maybe add a casing layer?

That was an adventure...read through all 377 pages and I think I'm ready to join the party. It looks like it's been a ride too, plenty of drama.
From my end, I started by Natalensis spores when I started the thread back in October. Played around with Agar from October through November and have had some very typical Nat style agar plates:

Even cloned a plate pin:

Timing has been completely unpredictable:
- My jars have been extremely slow growers, especially in recovery from B&S. Two quart jars inoculated in November are just about ready now.
- I think this might be a hydration issue, the grains look dry and it seems like this myc is a heavy drinker
- On agar though, very fast growing. I'm thinking I might remove gypsum from my grains, or try something other than rye.
I sent one jar that was about 3/4 ready to bulk with some slightly heavy field capacity 100% coir.
Despite a slow spawn colonization, I saw activity on the surface within 12 hours.

The side growth is crazy:

This is me about 10 days into S2B, I'm crossing my fingers that I'm overlay free. I might be seeing some primordia, but from what I understand I should expect 15-30 days for fruits.

I'm still super new, only one cube grow under my belt, but I'm pumped for this and ready to follow this thread.

Hi Mwojo. I’m at a similar experience level to you. ive only completed one cube grow and I just put my nat spawn to bulk yesterday.
Funny enough I noticed the same thing about the nat myc moving slow in my rye jars. I put some Jack Frost and shakti myc to the same run of rye jars and they moved quicker than the nat did.
Like you I blamed the grain being too dry. Also, I’m using no mod jars and I’m worried I cracked the jar lids too wide and that the moisture escaped too easily. It’s so dry here right now.
Anyway, your tubs look great - I hope mine look that good. Good luck!

My jars are topped with these modified lids:

The grains definitely look dry, but it also might just be that it comes back very slowly from a break. One of the slowly colonizing jars is now re-colonizing quickly again after taking about a 3-4 weeks of little activity.
I'm also noticing that people who say their grains colonize quickly are dealing with overlay issues later. Maybe there's some connection between how aggressively the myc colonizes grains and how much overlay there is (some myc is "too aggressive")?

These jar lids suck IMO. Once I switched to SFDs my stalling out seemed to stop. I changed nothing with my prep or anything so take that for what you will.

Appreciate that info, I just started using them so I haven't had much experience with them here. Will try the SFDs out on my next grow and see if impacts the colonization speed.

Well those lids are for LC, seems like they would be ok for grain though unless the filter is crazy small.

I went from spores to fruits in about 2 months with minimal overlay.

Unfortunately they will slow the colonization down quite substantially and in some respects will starve the mycelium of oxygen. I have switched lids mid colonization when I used the incorrect lids after running out of sfd lids, the jars had fully stalled until.i switched lids and finished the colonization incredibly fast.
