any fungus including mold can show mycelial growth but in my opinion that is myc growing out and running away from trouble, as you said. You could carefully take a transfer to a new plate. For this purpose you want the tiniest transfer piece possible, should be able to be cleaned up after a series of transfers
I have had mixed results myself with syringes on agar, the very nature of a liquid media and bacteria works against you. Whether it is the syringe itself or your technique may be hard to determine, unless you are regularly doing a lot of flawless work and then this happens
anyway in future probably your agar stuff will get a lot more attention here: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/25662166
look forward to seeing those cultures looking pretty in some weeks
all the best with it mate

BREAKING NEWS SHROOMERY! We now know what filamentous fungi are composed of! Turns out it was mycelium all along.
Yeah I asked a few questions but "what is filamentous fungi made of?" Wasnt one of them. Seriously some people on these forums drive me nuts. Am I the only one that gets offended when someone tries to teach me mushroom cultivation 101? Then the other type of shroomery smartasses are the ones that will go through your grow log and point out everything you did that differs from their routine and still won't answer the question you need answered.
You know if the toxicity in these forums got turned down a few notches, all shroomery readers might actually make new discoveries or more advanced teks. The only reason we know so much about other sciences is because the knowledge was passed down freely for others to start where another left off. In my experience, that is absent here. It's a shame.
Sorry for the rant I just had to say it

That's awesome! I also cloned two S. brevipes on MYA a while ago, but none of those started fruiting yet. How long did it take for your culture? Is there a little contamination close to the edge at about 2 o' clock? Maybe a competitor could promote fruiting?

Poison,
I was just curious, as Suillus brevipes is mycorrhizal, did you plan on knocking up some conifer trees? Or maybe some out of the box experimenting indoors? I always find it fascinating experimenting with mycorrhizal species.

I seem to have forgotten to quote this post of Sporulator. It was a response to his fruiting clone culture of Sparassis brevipes on agar, so I wasn't talking about a Suillus. My bad.

I don't think it's the contam. Sparassis brevipes starts to fruit with or without contams before the agar is completely colonized after 7-10 days.
MYA is not the best choice. PDA works well for Sparassis brevipes and oat flakes/glucose agar works even better and cultures started from spores grow better than clones.
