In previous grows I’ve had some of my stems present brown streaks and/or rusty brown scales or coating near the base of the stem what kind of contamination might that be or is it possible it’s a genetic variation? It doesn’t seem to spread . It Does present on the stem rarely more than halfway up the stem . I got my Mexican and b+ mixed up so I’m not sure of the variety. One of the two. I don’t have a photo , but when it happens again I will document and post

Cambodian with brown streaks and scales on stem It hasn’t made me or anyone else ill . I thought it was genetics but evidently it’s bacterial. I pray that it’s benign.

I need help in determining what to do with this greenish mold that recently showed up. I assume I need to lower the moisture in the tub, but should I remove that section of substrate from the tub or maybe spray it with a hydrogen peroxide and water blend?

I would recommend to let them fruit and take sporeprints, start over.
Mold is for me always like a 100% throwaway grow. But you can still get some prints so you have enough resources to start over.
Would like to hear other opinions tho.

grab the thickest pin/mushroom, shower it I'm alcohol, rip it open (not cut it) take a small piece from the center to agar. the oyster culture I'm growing these days came from a moldy bag

What would cause a pin to grow upside down on agar? Cap on the mycelium layer, the volva in the air? I cant post pics right now but when I can I will share.

I'm half pencil half mushroom. It's great.

This is what I was talking about. These pinned on agar, but the two circled are growing upside down!

Probably a combination of genetics and a "weird" environment.

I think this post is about common contaminate mushrooms not bacteria/mold contamination.
This a better place for asking questions about bacteria/mold:

Some of the stinkhorns are so gnarly that if I caught them in my grow and didn't know what they were I would be legitimately freaked the fuck out. See Clathrus ruber, it looks like if hell had vegetation

I'd be pretty concerned with my technique if I had my grow contaminated by stinkhorns. That being said, great info. I hadn't considered a different mushroom as a contaminant.
