casing flush

after my friends first flush on his casing there is tons of mycelium on the surface of the casing.. should he patch over it to prevent overlay? or just cold shock and let it be?

its thick mycelium covering the surface of the casing ( as it normally does) should i just leave it?

some people scratch it with a fork then add very light sprinkling of casing over it.

If it looks like plastic paint and it doesn?t absorb any water, then scratch and bla....
but if not, leave it alone.
