Found these guys in cube territory in fruiting season. Saw they look active so I picked them. A little unsure.
ID appreciated.

Looks like Panaeolus sp. to me. Not sure which one, although in the second picture it looks like dark blue bruising on the stipe just below the spore print.
Wait for more opinions, but looks active from what I see.

Has pan vibes for sure but the spore print looks more purple brown than black
Maybe some cool cube phenotype?
Nice blueing either way!

Yeah, I thought both of those things too.
It's a weird one.
I'm not growing at the moment. If a seasoned grower wants the print hit me up and it's yours.

This is most likely Panaeolus cyanescens with some sort of mutation changing spores to violet. Spore size should be measured. Perhaps correct name here would be Panaeolus tropicalis if spore size matches Gerhardt's 1996 key.

Does look similar, but what about the blue bruising on the stem?

"Cube territory" meaning on dung or in soil?
This does not look like cubensis, neither do I think it is Panaeolus. Bluing on stem points away from inactive species.
What's the size of these?
I see that Psilocybe samuiensis apparently was found in NE QLD.
Return to the spot, please, and take loads of in situ shots if they turn up again.
I assume you kept them for science?

It does resemble Psilocybe samuiensis, also resembles Protostropharia semiglobata.
By cube territory I mean in a prolific cube patch. I did not see if they were sat directly in dung as it was dark and wet out there and the grass a bit long.
Stipe ~10cm, caps 2-3cm
I'll try and find more, I'm planning on going there again.
Yes I've still got the fruit and spores.

It would be nice to see the stipes photographed with an all white background because countertop is throwing me off with its blue hues. Also, the upper mushroom stipe looks way different and more black than bluish. Almost makes me wonder if the countertop colors are being reflected in the stipe or something. Either way popcorn 🍿 in hand waiting for this to be ID’ed.

Now there's a point. A picture doth not the truth always tell. Indoor lighting can be pretty deceptive.

Is the stem really bruising blue?

Good point, possibly not, but Northerner did tell me he thought it was bluing like an active in a message. You guys will need to hear back from him I suppose.
To me it looks like the stem closest to the camera is bluing, but it’s kind of hard to tell for sure.

It looks blue to me, but I keep getting told by the females in my life that I'm wrong when I say what colour stuff is. eg: no it's not purple it's magenta... lol.
I didn't understand the the bruising as it's not super blue, but where I broke the stipe with my nail looks alkaloid blue. But see above.
No light left today. Will get a shot tomorrow.
