Microdosing edibles (cannabis) to switch off vaping
    #28120821 - 01/02/23 08:10 AM (1 year, 26 days ago)

Anyway: I have this annoying problem with my brain and I figure I could probably cure my depression with edibles and also once I can finally grow shrooms I will try at least microdosing those again since I cannot acquire lsd. (Magic bullet, that molecule--for me, that is. YMMV).

Anyways

I know microdosing cannabis edibles is difficult to manage without the tolerance building up to insane levels, but I figure I can manage the tolerance to some degree by, say, timing the eating of an edible before working out, and then having a reasonably sized meal and then tackling the day, taking an off day, then rinse, repeat, and once I got the shrooms going I figure I will microdose those once a week maybe? On one of my days off? I got like, a lot of problems

These all went away when I used psychedelics before, and I had them before I used psychedelics, so I am figuring if I continue to microdose I can at least keep it at bay. Theoretically

Has anyone tried just microdosing (5mg?) Of cannabis edibles every day? Can the brain eventually adapt to this and will I see at least some minimal gains in my mental and physical health?

The main reason why, is that I have to do so much just to vape, because I want to cover it up as much as possible, which costs money, the weed costs money, etc.

I figure I go hard on edibles at a dispensary whilst they're on sale and I can sort of find a regimen that works? If I could combine it with some supplements is it possible to continue this indefinitely? I mean I would go as far as to cut a 10mg gummy into 2.5mg sections and just do one. I know right now I probably have a high tolerance but I was going to go heavy on the cbd and light on the thc* for the edibles and then focus on working out more, as I could lose some weight, gain muscle, and I probably could be way more healthy

TL;DR: is it possible to use edibles to the point where tolerance doesn't build up and you get maximum gains from the edibles by combining them with working out/exercise and more healthy eating habits?

Cannabis barely manages my symptoms but I really would like to stop vaping and smoking it.

You'll always gain tolerance but maybe doing it spaced out throughout the week versus everyday? But you may still see the same benefits regardless.

One thing that shows potential is consuming mango / mango juice / isolated Myrcene to help aid the absorption and synergize the THC - plus its healthy on its own too.

According to this study, the myrcene present in the mango (a linear monoterpene carbohydrate that is the main component of the essential oil of this fruit), a natural anti-inflammatory that can also be sedative, hypnotic, analgesic and muscle relaxant that, in addition, it alters the blood-brain barrier, favoring the entry of cannabinoids into the brain and producing an increase in the effects.

I think this question and others you ask really depends on your relationship to cannabis. What do you use it for currently? You say it is for depression, but how exactly does it help with that? Does the psychedelic-like euphoria help eliminate it, or is it more like a subtle painkilling effect?

What is your experience with edibles before? Do they effect you differently from smoking it, and if so, how so? It is also important to ask if you have ever had any trouble controlling your use of cannabis, any compulsions to use more, since that would severely complicate any attempt to use it medically. Sorry to ask so many questions but I think it is all relevant.

I wouldn't consider that microdosing. That dose is only micro to a frequent user, but to a cannabis-naive person, that'd be a small but active dose. Most sources suggest doses below 3mg are microdoses.

My general question to you would be, why are you concerned with tolerance, and how has tolerance impacted you in the past? What you are asking about in this thread is the medical use of cannabis, since you wish to use it for your depression. Most medical uses develop some tolerance. This is because medical use usually requires some degree of consistency in use. And tolerance is not considered a bad thing for some medical users. Those who use it frequently for chronic pain often intentionally develop a tolerance, slowly and over time, and a reduction in the psychoactivity of the drug can reduce some of the side-effects and increase consistency of use. For example, the method advocated for by rick simpson is a slow increase in dose over a period of months, which would inevitably involve a higher tolerance.

EVERY medical regimen you could try would induce some tolerance. How much of a concern is it? If you want microdosing, perhaps you aren't looking for that intense of a psychoactive effect to begin with. It is a bit ironic to me that you ask if the brain can 'adapt' to cannabis every day, and then you also say you don't want any tolerance. But tolerance is merely the brain's adaptation to cannabis.

Yes, you should find a regimen that works, and continue it indefinitely if it is still working for you. Why don't you try testing something out for 1-2 weeks and seeing if there's any improvement?

What is your current use like? How would these proposed regimens differ? You've talked here about a small dose every day, as well as every other day.

For the sake of harm reduction, I would suggest the lower dose you proposed - 2.5mg, every other day. If this is lower than your current use would be, maybe give it a try and see if your symptoms are managed in the same way. If you can handle it, try a washout period of no cannabis for a week before giving this a try. If that'd be too much of an impact you could start now though.

What the other user suggested about combining it with other supplements is a good idea; I can talk more about possibilities if that interests you.

Have you tried macro dosing? I have had much better results from doing large doses of things. Like eat a 500mg edible with intention. Sit down and meditate on the come up. Treat it like a trip cause that’s what it is. Have a day off after to reflect. Same once you figure out how to grow mush and cactus. Eat a heavy dose with purpose. It’s amazing what your brain can do with a little help from a plant. The changes can be for long term instead of something you have to do every day or whatever. I smoke weed for recreation but I eat it for meditation. Shrooms I never use recreational but they tend to end up that way cause after I deal with stuff they reward me with beautiful visions, full body orgasms, and rolling laughter.

Edit. I meant to say I use edibles as medication. Whatever you do good luck. Hope you find what your looking for.

I haven't done a lot of shrooms for medication purposes I'm sure they have amazing benefits but I have with cannabis. If you want a cheaper way towards edibles you can buy bulk flower from your dispo and make your own butter or infused oil? It's pretty simple, cheap and you can adjust it to the strength you prefer.

Wish you luck.
