My friends daughter died
    #2811967 - 06/20/04 10:18 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

My friends daughter was killed this weekend in an accident.  I just now heard.  I feel so desperately bad for the guy...I don't know what to say.  He is such a family man and I know that this is devestating for him.  She was just a little girl.

It just has really shook me up.  I don't know what to think, or what to feel...to be honest, this is the first time death has come this close to me.  It's just so terrible and sad.  :frown:  I mean...he'll never have his little girl back...she's dead, gone forever.  I'm trying to wrap my mind around that right now.

I don't know what I'm asking for...just needed to post this.  :frown:

I was in the same situation many years ago. A close friends 3 year old daughter was killed in a drunk driving accident. Her husband, the child's father was the drunk driver. Thankfully, they had a great support group, and a great deal of therapy. They were able to get their lives and marriage back
on track. They had 2 more kids and will celebrate their 24th anniversary soon.
I honestly don't know how she did it. I don't know if I would be able to forgive him.
I hope the same can be said for your friend in the years to come. It takes time, but I guess time does heal

My thoughts and love goes out to you and your friend. :frown:

Thanks everyone...

I just keep thinking about it. I can't believe that a friend of mine is experiencing a loss like this. I can't imagine it. I hope that he'll be okay. He has a wife and another daughter so there is alot of support there.

Chinadoll...wow, what an intense story...I don't know if I would be able to forgive him either. Imagine the guilt he must have had...the world is so rough sometimes.

Thanks everyone

truly,

*me*

When I was 19, a friend of mine was killed in a car accident. He was also 19. At his visitation I told his mother that I didn't know what to say and she told me that there was nothing to say. That was five years ago.

I've run into his parents many times since then. I only ever talked about my friend with his father, who is quite open to talking about his death. After about a year, it seemed that the subject of his death would not be a meaningful form of interaction between any of us for much longer. Whenever I talk to them now, I talk to them about common interests. For them, it was true that "life goes on."

I don't know if that is helpful in any way.

This is a hard one and you can't tell him you know how he feels cause you don't. the only thing to do is be there for the family for when the service is over and they truely know she is gone then they will need you.

I am so sorry for the family
