Resolve 2

Being on the cusp of a new year, I thought it might be fun to discuss resolve.
The dictionary definitions of resolve are:
Quote:
verb 1. settle or find a solution to (a problem, dispute, or contentious matter). "the firm aims to resolve problems within 30 days"
2. decide firmly on a course of action. "she resolved to call Dana as soon as she got home"
noun 3. firm determination to do something. "she received information that strengthened her resolve"
Is resolve a valid concept in your world view? Do you engage in a resolution for the new year? Do you think there is value in being firm on a course of action? Is there a feedback of information which can strengthen or weaken resolve?

there is great value in striving, reaching, and persevering.
if success lies within particular boundaries, success is more likely to be found if those boundaries are first defined.
feedback is found when one is aware of these thresholds of success.
without first defining the boundies, one would not have feedback about where the thresholds of success are.

Would you say that one needs to have resolve as a verb (the act of resolving to do something) before they can find resolve as a noun (strengthening of the act)?

yes, the verb is more of a process, where the noun is more of a product.
the process may lead to a product, but it is very difficult to make a product without first having a well defined process.

Yeah it's an ongoing resolve to be loving to everything that appears in mind. Loving as represented by warmth and acceptance. Self/other both worthy of this love in their appearance in mind.
In it's noun form, I find a disentanglement from prior judgements to be liberating and reinforcing.

You should show resolve for a good thing necessarily.

Maybe? There are a great many definitions of good. And there are few things which are necessities. So for me there is a distillation of many to few to arrive at resolve. Is that necessary?
