apophenia / pareideolia
    #26531801 - 03/12/20 09:34 PM (3 years, 10 months ago)

On apophenia / pareideolia:

When our field of vision reveals an unexpected symbol, sign or "artistic image", we find the road has forked. Either a) one's perception is mistaken, or b) one's perception has been blessed with a sign (symbol). Why not affirm the obvious? The creator has blessed us with a gift (symbol, sign, art). The fool denies what he has seen, deciding that what appears is somehow incorrect. Incorrect how? It would only be incorrect if one were to believe that the sign or symbol was an error. Why should a sign or symbol be an error?

What appears as apophenia / pareideolia also appears as a faerie story.

The Spore Print you see above turned out to be more than merely a spore print.  Is it just a spore print?  Is it merely that?  Or is there a symbol, a sign, too?  What or who produced the art within the spore print?  What appears as apophenia / pareideolia also appears as a faerie story.

no need to make more of it, just enjoy the state that makes apophenia & pareideolia easy.
i.e. being stoned or schizo (or whatever shrinks want to call it today).

it's the state of mind that has its own value, and that value is a kind of freedom and hopefully more pleasure than pain.

"If you are in yourself, you become aware of your incapacity. You will see how little capable you are of imitating the heroes and of being a hero yourself. So you will also no longer force others to become heroes. Like you, they suffer from incapacity. Incapacity, too, wants to live, but it will overthrow your Gods. [BP v (r)] fol. v(r)/v(v) ~Carl Gustav Jung, The Red Book

Idolatry is still a socially cohesive force - its original function.“ —  Julian Jaynes, book The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind

"It always seeks the  lowest level which men abhor. To take the line of least resistance, weak kneed, spineless and that seems wrong. We are all brought up to be energetic, to use force. And anyone who isn't using force in school is reported on by the teachers as lacking aggression, not being upstanding. Take ideas which are commonly accepted and turn them backwards and see if they were thought about the other way. Present is not always the result of the past. The tail doesn't wag the dog, the past doesn't cause the present." Alan Watts, paraphrased

“Yes, there have been ET visitations. There have been crashed craft. There have been material and bodies recovered. There has been a certain amount of reverse engineering that has allowed some of these craft, or some components, to be duplicated. And there is some group of people that may or may not be associated with government at this point that have this knowledge. They have been attempting to conceal this knowledge. People in high level government have very little, if any, valid information about this. It has been the subject of disinformation in order to deflect attention and create confusion so the truth doesn’t come out. ”
― Edgar D. Mitchell, The Way of the Explorer: An Apollo Astronaut's Journey Through the Material and Mystical Worlds

"The wave does not need to die to become water. She is already water." - Thich Nhat Hanh

“Our presence here, outside the domain of the home planet, was not rooted in an accident of nature, nor the capricious political whim of a technological civilization. It was rather an extension of the same universal process that evolved our molecules. And what I felt was an extraordinary personal connectedness with it. I experienced what has been described as an ecstasy of unity. I not only saw the connectedness, I.felt it and experienced it sentiently. I was overwhelmed with the sensation of physically and mentally extending out into the cosmos. The restraints and boundaries of flesh and bone fell away. I realized that this was a biological response of my brain attempting to reorganize and give meaning to information about the wonderful and awesome processes I was privileged to view from this vantage point.”
― Edgar D. Mitchell, The Way of the Explorer

"There are cases where it is better not to interfere; we must fulfill our duty as doctors, but the fact remains that some people are not meant to be cured, theyare not fitted for life and if you step in and interfere fate always takes its revenge on you." - Carl Jung, Modern Psychology, pg 27

Is this an example of Indra's Net where one jewel reflects (and amplifies?) the light of another?

Give it a try sometime, the easiest one's to find are on telephone poles, wood surfaces, trees. Sometimes it requires a camera to see them.  There are some that I would not have seen without the camera.  One of the most interesting ones I found while I was doing a mushroom spore print, the little man you see smoking the pipe in the Avatar. I could see it both on the paper and on the camera so they exist both in the real world and through the camera. Vivekenanda says these phenomena come from the inner power of man, one needs to observe closely, you'll see them.

Here are two more I found:

its funny the big bang is our roraschach blot

and we are part of the blot itself

we see faces because something in us looks for faces

like seeing our political beliefs being confirmed in the news

or our fears, our hopes

pattern recognition machine, meaning making machine

the consensus narratives are breaking down. new patterns emerging, competing for our beliefs, new constellations to belive in the sea of stars
