happy equinox everybody
just came down.. very short trip report before sleep .
at last .. first time natalensis! 2.2g simmered in lemony water for 15 minutes, on an empty stomach. in the dark. sitting comfortably, but mostly laying down.
intense and quite different to cubensis! come up was non existent, sudden impact of a very powerful wave.
level 3-4 i would say. had some little episodes of "amnesia" just to realise minutes (?) later that i am me and that i know myself.. AND i have taken a substance ) drowsiness when standing up, could actually hardly walk at times.
strong oev and cev, quite different to cubensis, not breathing, rather grainy and less fractal. bright colourful (spectral) disorientating patterns i would say.. melting bookshelves in the dim light.. but my focus was not so much on that, more looking inwards ..
this mushroom made me work! light and love for revelation seemed the deal (some pretty hefty ones). very emotional ride and quite challenging.
over all a very strong body load. little afterglow now and back to base after 4 1/2 hours..
2g of this culture labeled "pretty fatty nat" seems quite a lot more potent than my strongest cubensis (havent cultivated APE yet!)
ps. music via headphones at times (when i could stand the intensity) John Hopkins, "music for psychedelic therapy", recommended!!
sending you love and light on this darkest night of the year safe travels chris

I am curious, how is the trip different? I have observed many people say that it is and that they like it better than cubes. How so?
Thanks for answering my questions. I guess what it boils down to is I will have to try it for myself to see for myself what the fuss is about. Hope the spores arive before this winter storm! Forecast is crazy!

well, so many factors, as you know and as this was my first time getting really in touch with this kind.. personally it seems that the painters palette is quite different. OEVs are different in "structure", blurrier i would say. body load is increased. CEVs were extremely intense and quite indescribable (as always).
the loss of a sense of continuity was also different, there was some kind of "drunken" and disoriented feeling to it. less clear, less heady than cubensis (as i know them).
also my brain feels pretty "exhausted" today which is kind of normal, but what i find weird is that i feel no afterglow, no euohoria (what i am used to from cubensis) but as i said, its one experience and it was a quite challenging one, so... taking these in a really uplifting set and setting might result in a very comfortable warm and physically pleasant experience. i will most definitely find out.
do i prefer natalensis? hard to tell, this will need some more trips. maybe next time i will try a lower dose to see (sounds crazy after taking 2g+, but well), i think the intensity surprised me. definitely very potent!

That research lists dibutyl phthalate (a plasticizer used in industry and an iflammatory agent) as an anti-inflammatory so as far as I can tell there is no reliable research on medical benefits

Says those chemicals were found in the mushrooms I honestly just glossed over it in a couple of seconds so I could be wrong. Did you read the study linked in the post?

I'm using a closet that averages 68° and dips to 63-64° at night.
On a scale of don't disrespect this thread with that garbage...to...that looks great. Where am I?

No visible yellow pooling yet, that's good. 👌 Also, looks like it's starting to consolidate the grain. Def Nats doing nat things. I'd send it

Yes, the dbp was only listed in the hot sample so I thought they heated it in plastic maybe? 12% though.. pretty unlikely. Maybe someone more familiar with gc/ms machines has info about that but listing it as an anti-inflammatory at all is a huge red flag

Those look good. That temp range will work but it’s about as low as you can get before you see growth slow down significantly. With jars at least, Ime tubs can handle lower temps than jars and plates.

Living in an extremely cold house this year - temp ranges from 57 to 60f. Managed to grow natalensis on agar and then on oats at 64f and they did fine, but now I've spawned it to bulk and it is sitting at 57f most of the time. Let's see if the marvelous nat is able to colonize bulk and to pin also at this temp. moreover, I cold pasteurized the coir with lime at 8ph as I do with cubes - I'm confident it will work for nats too :-D

They do just fine at that temperature, they just take longer.

Looking like it’ll be little lighter than I hoped, but glad to have a stash of these again. Never got to try my last batch, but folks who did talked highly of them. I guess I did munch on some of them one night but was already tripping and half way to blacking out so it wasn’t the best session to feel their magic.

Not sure if people saw the results from the 2022 Winter Cup but analysis of the Nats entered showed they are on par with the several Melmak and Tidal wave F7 samples for alkaloid content (no additional secondary metabolites appear to have been assessed
Guess this adds more validation that nat potency can be assumed/expected to be at least similar, if not stronger, to some of the upper spectrum cube varieties.

very excited to be getting on the Nat train soon hopefully

These are two I have going. One is nice and silky and fine. The other one more rhizo edges with puffball middle, the previous plate was like a snowball, puffed up to the ceiling of the plate in the center but with rhizo edges, very hectic looking growth, for lack of a better phrase, but from what I have seen in this thread hectic growth is fairly normal
good times fellas

All my Nats have been going into gummies lately. I've been on holiday so I just eat gummies all day, great vibe.

How much are you putting in the gummies? Like a mini dose? 0.5g?
