Correct! But the print from Melgo is looking similar, maybe slightly whiter.

I inoculated 7 quarts of each, Xico and Melgo. I'll post updates here.

I spawned this tub 30 days ago. I check it today and I see the mean green has moved in. Plates and spawn were really clean and everything looked great until this morning. I'm not sure what went wrong. Is there a chance this will fruit or is it trash.

That's trash homie. Sorry for your loss. If it were like only in one corner and you were only a day or two from harvesting I'd say let it go but it hasn't even fruited yet...toss it

Yeah I kinda figured that. It sucks but I guess I'll get another one going. Thanks!

Well now I’m not sure how letting the spawn consolidate for a month and a half will go, it’s been done for a few days and looks like it’s knotting up already.

Got a couple tubs getting close to harvest, still ms cultures I’m working through, regardless they fill in nice so super excited to spawn the clone in a month or so and see how that compares! Going to wait to try and print some until the clone runs. Unmodified tub 50/50 coir/manure and peat/lime casing. These tubs started pinning super early, I generally case after about 7-8 days from spawn and pins were already popping when I went to case around that time. I want to say these are about 10-14 since pins. Been out of town for a few days and our heat turned off so came home to like 40F, no idea how long it’s been this cold but they still seem healthy. Still maintaining my mist scheduled same as tamps, heavy in the morning and night, except for when I was out of town, dropped the fae significantly to hold in that moisture, they seem to not mind the restricted fae so next run I will be more intentional with that in hopes of getting them to self regulate without my misting.

Ever since I saw this post from Nichrome, I kinda got obsessed with replicating it...

This part really caught my attention: "This is not by any means the best method but it does demonstrate how simple this can be if you want it to."

After many failures, I've finally managed to do it:

Those are beautiful! Great color and they are so packed in there. You mention many failures prior to this - what did you change from your failures? Seems like there couldn't be too many variables involved in a bucket grow.

Thanks! I changed the things we talked about in our PMs: increased pasteurization time, spawned in a different room, covered all grain with a thin layer of substrate at spawn so no grain is exposed.

After I'd done that, my best shoebox posted earlier on could have been pure luck, but no - results have been reproduced with the bucket too

I'm thankful to you Man

Nice! I thought your comments in your last post were specific to the bucket - maybe moisture or lid position or temps etc.

I have your genetics fully colonized in a grain jar. I've been shut down the last couple of weeks due to the fly infestation but am back up now so will be spawning to substrate here in the next day or two. Looking forward to seeing how they perform compared to the cultures I have been working with.

Excellent Melgo! So just so I’m understanding, this is 100% coir substrate and casing? That is super simple! Might ditch the manure going foreward.
Edit: never mind I just re-read the original post.. gotta up my reading comprehension it seems..

Just shook the jars of your culture the other day, Melgo, and they recovered so fast! Fingers crossed, and very glad to see you killing it!

Actually kirkeng, it is a little bit different from Nichrome (I shouldn't have used the word replicated, my bad). It's 100% coir substrate, with cactus soil as casing (casing was applied at 100% colonization only). Both pasteurized for 2 hours.

Heard, that’s still easy though, I wonder how much a role the cactus soil casing played compared to nichromes coir casing. If that played a significant role in the differences between yours and nichromes, or if it’s more culture or fruiting technique. Would be an interesting side by side with same culture

Oh shit! I’m part of the club now!

My shoebox isn’t as pretty as most grows posted here but I’m feeling proud anyway.

A few details about this grow in case it helps the community:
This is my 1st Semp attempt.
From SirPsycho’s genetics. Thank you, Sir.
This culture was expanded from a plate pin.
Expanded on oats in jars.
Super aggressive post-shake recovery.
Spawned to CV at roughly 1:3 with a thin top-layer of sub.
Lightly compressed as recommended by The Fresh Prints.
100% colonization 12 days after spawning.
Cased with thin layer of verm straight from the bag as recommended by nosf3r4tu.
First pin noticed about 25 days after spawning.
The pic above is 36 days after spawning.

A few observations:
Side pins like a motherfucker!
- I’ll use a liner next time. Maybe next flush.
Very reactive to light.
- Might use overhead lighting next time instead of daylight through window.
These have loved super minimal FAE.
- Notice all the blue tape.

Moopers’ cultivation digest was super useful in helping me correctly interpret fruit behavior and in helping me adjust conditions when my intuition failed.
