Nektar:
haha. yes. Got a link for the EzTub? When I search it, mostly your posts come up.
I'm NOT saying toss those. I'd grow them out to shroomies. Just trying to find out the path direction, to see if you want to do it next time.
Pasty is solid grow person, one of the most solid on here. Dialed tubs are solid, a lot of people use them here.
I mainly personally wouldn't use corn or a mister next time. You said you used corn because not many use it. I'd recommend using what most people are successfully using your first few times.
What's the misting device misting? The outside of the bags?
LeonKennedy: Sure: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26140339/vc/1
I was going to drill regular 2" holes like everyone does until I ran across his article.
And that thing is just a little diffuser with water inside. Normally you'd put a couple drops of essential oils and it makes the room smell good. But I didn't add the oil. I don't have a humidifier and I had this laying around and my tub is in a closet so I figured it couldn't hurt to add some extra water vapor into the air. My spawn bags just happen to be behind that.
Nektar: OK, when people here say "Mist the tub", that usually means taking a little spray bottle and misting water on it as needed, maybe not even every day, not automatic.
Automation in grow rooms was big around here a decade or 15 years ago, from what I can tell from old threads. But it died out (from what I read) because it tended to over water which can lead to mold.
When people here say "dialed" tubs, it means "dialed in", as in, you get it right, and adjust the hole coverings or lid or tape or polyfil or whatever until you don't have to do anything, or not much.
Then the tub creates its own airflow and from the tiny bit of heat coming off the mycelium growing. (something someone on here figured out working in Alaska watching heat come off oil drilling / shipping pipes or something like that)
Oh, as for checking the tub 3x a day, yes, not needed. Do it, but will be not much to see for a while.
First you will see the top and sides turn white...it has to colonize the substrate with mycelium, THEN you get pins.
You're going to get shrooms, I'm just explaining some basics that confused me at first too.
I was wondering my first two weeks too "where the fuck are my pins??" The posts are even still up on here.
This is the type of mist bottle I use, but you can get similar anywhere: https://www.amazon.com/Empty-Spray-Bottles-16oz-2Pack/dp/B08QM81BJV/
I use filtered tap water, same I drink.
Anyone else want to jump in? I do shoe boxes not monotubs, but theory is the same.</font></font></font></font>

Oh, I know what he meant about misting and using a bottle to spray with. I wasn't using the diffuser for misting purposes, I just figured it would help the air not be so dry as the tub "breathes." Sorry for the confusion, I could have put this post together a little better.
Thanks for all the information! Definitely taking notes.

Maybe in Arizona in August, but probably not even then.
When you search on here any of these words: diffuser fogger mister
Most of the posts are from 15 years ago. Ignore most tek on here over 5 years old.
The few new search results are people asking and solid growers saying "don't use them."
Like this TC (trusted cultivator) jcm4620 less than 2 years ago saying not needed. Even mentions Pasty's EZ dial monotub:
Quote:
then u dont have a monotub. get rid of all that shit. its totally pointless and will only hinder your chances of a completed grow. simply just follow a monotub tek. they are as set n forget as u can get and do all tbe work for you. also dont incubate anything. all ur gnna do is create a breeding ground for unwanted contams.
check out pastys EZ dial monotub tek or bods unbodified monotub tek
a plastic tote either modified with specially placed holes of a certain size or a totally un modified tub,a light and a spray bottle is really all u need.

What do you got in the bottom of that tub?
Hydroton. Expanded clay pellets for hydroponics
Ohok. And that keeps the moisture higher than say pearlite or just water?

Nice. I never mist my tubs. If you got the moisture and fae right they form beads all on their own.

i dunno. i live in a climate where, if you dont use a humidifier in the winter, your nose will bleed at night. whats good for me seems to be good for my tubs too. ive always secretly wished there was some kind of system like usda ag zones people would use when posting.

Very nice! I just made a few masters of Whyte Gold last week. Never grew this variety but itβs performed well so far. I like seeing pics of the finished product.
