What are people doing with microscopes?

I know about identifying mushrooms and contams, but what other useful things are people doing with their basic compound light microscopes?
Anything dna or chemistry related would be interesting.
p.s. posted here because the microscopy board is pretty slow.

One answer to myself: identify chemicals. Some chemicals look similar to the way they are drawn

Unfortunately this is not at all achievable for most people. That's from an electron microscope or something similar, definitely not a light microscope. As others have said, most people use microscopes for different hybridization techniques and verifying crosses.
