don't forget the folded paper towel and foil. the micropore can get wet. i use these "holy grails" you don't have to worry about foil and paper towels or modifying them at all and they have great visibility. 14$ for 20.

Closer pic of my quart jars, grains are hard winter wheat berries. First time trying out this grain and Iβm still very new and learning on properly hydrating and sterilizing my own grains using PC. You Variety is Menace. Three jars were lost due to visible contamination, one jar which you can see colonized very aggressively. Two jars recovered pretty well after post shake and the jar thatβs fully colonized had a more thick looking mycelium. I donβt see any kind of mold or bacteria color, but the thick mycelium from reading post is a sign of bacterial spawn. I know spawning slightly bacterial spawn can still give success which is what Iβm hoping for with the fully colonized jar. Iβll post an update if it does indeed work out and bears fruit or if it just ends up growing green. Iβm hoping for at least one successful jar out of the six, as Menace is a variety I heard good things about. I definitely have backups going in case these donβt work out though. I have lots of Ecuador 1/2 pints almost ready to spawn
I also just got in some Brown rice flour and vermiculite after my favorite brand was out of stock for a while. So in case I hit a bad run of bacterial grains, I have my backup cakes ready to go. Im really hoping to get down the grains though, Iβll be doing more controlled studies as I gambled on shooting spore syringe straight to grains. So I canβt tell if those three jars were from the spore syringe or my grain prep. Leaning on spore syringe if these three jars hold up and give me mushrooms. Then Iβll be really happy knowing my grain prep and sterilization worked

Great example on the resilience of fungi. Spawned this tub for science, spawn jar had probably hundreds of wet grains looked super bacterial, even smelled sweet. 7 weeks later, here we are

I got my cast off my Right hand yesterday and was able to birth my first vender BRF cakes. LOL so far nothing but what can you expect for your very first cakes in the first 24 hours. However, I did have a learning experience with agar as well, I'll show a picture of that too. I hope "Y'all" have a good day now!

SGFC's only work properly if they are nearly full. Your two lonesome cakes are gonna dry out. Put them back in the jars and throw ziploc bags ontop.

Crazy. Was it already an enigma type variety or a normie that mutated due to infection?

I used paper towel as per pastyβs tek Thank you kindly for the link, those look like excellent no-pour containers. I take it you just loosen off the lids slightly for sterilizing?

First grow and I am finally at the spawn making stage! This specific jar looks strange though. Zoomed-in you can clearly see the bright-white stringy myc strands up front, but the background is this grayish, more fuzzy myc. Is the grayish myc contam? The jar is a few days after a thorough shake. I started off a spore print and went print -> agar -> rye jars.
