I've never trusted myself to properly ID a mushroom before, partially because I haven't found anything that looked edible (or active) and partially because I have a bit of color blindness. For that last reason in particular, I would appreciate a little help IDing these.
I saw them yesterday in a rather hard to see location between a fallen tree and the slope into a creek. The caps are roughly an inch and golden in color (I think ). Some of the older ones (not pictured due to space constraints) are a darker color with the edges of the caps rolled up. I took a stain, but all I can really say is that it came out "dark," as I am not entirely sure of the color.
Hopefully these photos will help:
Very interesting looking, if nothing else. Any help is greatly appreciated.
