Multiple Sclerosis Treatment 5

In case anyone cares, I thought I would share. My wife has had MS for almost 20 years now. It’s well managed, but she takes quit a cocktail of drugs three times a day in addition to a monthly injection. She has physical/neurological as well as cognitive issues.
The only reason I began cultivating Psilocybe Cubensis was because the research suggested it may be a promising treatment for MS. She’s been microdosing 5g of fresh Golden Teacher every morning. She has been able to discontinue three of her rX medications, with minimal side effects due to just this 5g dose. It’s expensive growing mushrooms, whereas her rX drugs were free and covered by insurance. However, the effectiveness is well worth the price tag in our opinion.
Update: Her MS related temperature regulation issues are exacerbated by the Psilocybin. However, she reports it’s a minor complaint and outweighed by the benefits as well as absence of worse side effects from the three discontinued drugs. She’s starting 2 weeks of abstinence tomorrow to see how long the benefits last.

How long has she been dosing for, and what symptoms does it help with?

SPG, this is amazing. MS and other neurological disorders are almost untreatable. I'd love for you to expand on you and your wife's findings for others in similar situations.
Just one question, 5 grams is high for a microdose, is this cut into smaller doses during the day or is she taking it in one hit? Thanks.

Probably 5g fresh
I think 5 dried grams would eliminate almost any ailment for a few hours at least

Less than a month. It has replaced her SSRI, Anxiolytic and Amphetamine (Cymbalta, Adderall, Buspar). These were used to treat anxiety, depression, neuropathic pain, fatigue, and cognitive issues.

She eats 5g fresh on an empty stomach an hour after waking. She hasn’t had any issues operating a car, etc. When we run out of fresh, she’s going to try .5g dry, powdered in a 00 capsule.

Thanks, San Pedro, I microdose for other neurological reasons and I find 0.2 to 0.3 grams dried to be my limit.
Re: frequency of microdose - some use daily, others have reported they find it best to use every second day; and some do it 5 days on and 2 or 3 days off. This is to reduce dose tolerance. I microdose maybe two-three times a week and that works for me.

Thanks for the update, fingers crossed for some improvement over the 2 weeks break.

Hi, thank you for sharing, this is really interesting and I wish you both good luck. How long has your wife been taking the mushroom dose? And how did she transition from the 3 medications that were stopped to the mushrooms?

She’s been taking the mushrooms for less than a month. She weened off her SSRI over 3 weeks following her doctor’s advised schedule. The adderall and buspar were stopped entirely one week before she started mushrooms. Her first dose was 27.15g fresh, followed by 5g/day fresh thereafter.
Today is her first day of no mushrooms to see how long the benefits last. No matter the outcome, she plans to start a .5g/day dry dose in 2 weeks.

Good on her for challenging orthodox medicine and going outside the square box. It is never easy stepping outside to test alternatives, my heart is with you both.

My mom has MS (63yrs) and was diagnosed when 33 and ive watched her struggle all my life with it, which led deteriorating mental health and self medication and eventual accidental overdose which she live through sfter my chest compressions and EMS with narcan. I wish i would've known ghis a long time ago tbh. She has always been on SSRI's anyway (Celexa)so idk. Im no hypochondriac but i swear i might have this decease bc i have everything she has genetically, unfortunately lol, but ive recently looked at symptoms which made lots of my health problems now over last year make sense. Im around same age when she was diagnosed. I haven't been to Doctor in 11yrs now, no health insurance, so i have no clue my ailments. I was on the beta blocker atenolol for 3 trs for irregular heartbeat a long time ago, well bout 11yrs lol. Sorry for talking to much it just made me think and i hope to find relief physically and mentally from growing myself very soon. So this is good news. I just gotta be successful with it first but i believe i can and will 🙂✌ hope your wife stays doing well and you too being caregiver to help her when needed. Caretaking isnt always easy but im sure she isnt as unable as my mom so hopefully no biggie there. I respect the Caretakers out there btw. Wish yall the better than the best.

Have you considered adding Lion’s Mane mushroom to the regimen? Might be useful for MS considering its potential to stimulate nerve growth. Check out Paul Stamet’s microdosing stack: https://psychedelicspotlight.com/how-to-microdose-psilocybin-paul-stamets-the-stamets-stack/
I guess the idea is that the niacin increases the effectiveness of the psilocybin and lion’s mane by helping distribute them throughout the nervous system more effectively

Stay strong SPG, I know how hard it can be supporting someone who is going through MS. Make sure to take care of yourself too! I feel strongly for you both.
I, like many others here, appreciate the updates. If she continues to experience relief while not microdosing, it would be quite an interesting find.

Thanks. She spent 16 days off the micro dose, with symptoms returning 1.5-2 days after. She’s now been back on .5g/day for the last two days with immediate relief just as before.
We also both came home with COVID and she reported the microdosing causes an increase in nose running, but an abatement in all other COVID symptoms. She’s on a budesonide steroid and albuterol nebulizar until her COVID symptoms abate.
She was diagnosed with MS 19 years ago and we just completed two SCUBA dives of ship wrecks in Aruba, partly thanks to her being able to discontinue the three drugs because of microdosing. This is all anecdotal and applies to just her and there’s no way to know how long the microdosing will remain effective, but it keeps showing more and more promise.

Yes, that’s a consideration for months in the future, but she’s only adding one drug at a time so she can more accurately tell what’s doing what.

Does she use potent medicine? Have you guys tried using less potent mushrooms? Cubes, but really weak cubes. I'm interested in if the medicine works if the obvious effects ie. visuals, body high were not present.
It's amazing she is able to benefit in this way. Thank you for the words.
