San Pedro seedlings
    #28073995 - 11/29/22 05:01 AM (1 year, 1 month ago)

hi,
how often do I need to water San Pedro seedlings?
they are almost one year old, are 1-4 cm in size.
should I keep seedling below 2 cm at all, will they ever grow correctly.
honestly I do not know what size to expect after one year.
thank you for any advice😎

water when the soil dries all the way out.. i say keep them all!
..slower growers sometimes turn out to be the most valuable.

Yes keep the slow growers... my "lucy" clone was a bridgesii seedling that stalled and was tiny for months and it crested out of nowhere... After it started growing was actually my fastest grower despite the slow start.

Thank you @ellomello and @modern.shaman for your advice!

These are some of my seedlings (they are planted in cactus soil with sand on top)

All of them look like this, 11 months old, 1-4 cm. When do they get thicker? Do they look ok? I have them in my living room.

I bought some cuttings yesterday

and placed them on dry sand. Where they were cut is already completely dry. Is there anything I can help them to root? I read here somewhere on the forum, to mist them with a hand pump. Do you have any experience with that?

Thank you!

Increase the amount of light the receive... I place mine in full sun very early on... they struggle for the first few months but explode in growth at around 8 months. My trichocereus are also 11 months old

Wow, your cactii look amazing! I had mine under a simple light and they got brown at the top, then I was told, that they get to much light, growth will slow and I should remove them from that setup. Here is winter currently, with very little light. Should I place them in my grow tent and slowly increase light amount in a 12/12 hours schedule?

If you already have a grow tent going yes put it in there. Lots of growers repeat that saying if its red you need to reduce the light exposure. They do indeed stall for a while be I keep them in adult conditions as early as I feel they can handle it usually at the 1-2 month mark. They indeed go slower at first but quickly pick up growth rate once they are use to the amount of light.

Here are my trichocereus at 4 months old that were kept in full sun when I was away. So full summer sun and drought at 3 months old.
