Looking good everyone!
My windowsill pachanoi is getting tall. Thinking about cutting the center out.

I can probably get  “2, forearm and half” sections out and re-root the tips.

I’ve never tried cactus do you think this is worthwhile or wait until my bridgesii‘s get big enough (probably 2 more years)?

I would graft the bridgesii tips onto the PC pachanoi to accelerate growth.  PC is not great entheogenic material, but is great grafting stock to multiply and  pump your more potent varieties on.

I know they are not known to be potent but people still eat them. I’ll cut the middle out either way:shrug:

Good call on grafting them I’ve been very chicken about trying it but should probably go for it.

Can you not gather and store pollen for later blooms to pollinate?

13 years. It did start to pup a few years back, I've never removed any though.

Probably, but the tallest flowered first and it's some 14 ft up! Was too hot a summer to bother moving pots to be able to get closer, hopefully next year they time it better then I'll make the effort

Wow... I'm hoping to possible find a way to induce flowering at like 3-5 years old...

In the ground they do better but since many growers use pots, as do I, need to work with what we can.

GREAT JOB MAN

If someone with some mature trichocereus is interested in experimenting with girdling to induce flowering I think there is a high chance of success... apply a girdle to the core to an amount you want (75%) is highest returns maybe a foot or two from the top.

Another experiment that may be worth trying is burning the cactus... I need to do more experiments but first test did show some promising results but since I burnt a graft not the most reliable information.

You burned an astro to induce flowering?

Didn’t quite get the germination rate I’d hoped for from these New Zealand Scop seedlings. But the plants are looking healthy, and some are starting to get fat.

I burnt the astro to induce mutations however the result appears to have induced flowering. I also burnt 3 trichocereus seedlings but nothing special other than spines on one seem more mature than controls.

I got about a hundred plants from about 150 seeds in that tray.
66% is not bad, but my Misplant seeds always give me 90+ percent.

It may have just been this particular cross, though. I’ve got another couple hundred seeds of other Scop x Pach and Scop x Peru crosses from the same vendor that I haven’t germinated yet, they might do better.

The real issue isn’t even germination, though. It’s what the fuck am I gonna do with all these plants as they grow. I’ve got a hundred or so yearlings outside, and a couple hundred seedlings inside under the lights. Another few hundred seeds left to sow, and I think I’m about to grab another thousand-ish from a grower whose work I really admire….

Plenty of space for a couple thousand sprouts, not so much for a couple thousand plants. But ya know….never can tell how many will germ, or how many thrive after the first year. It’s a numbers game, always gotta sow more seeds than the number of plants you want…

Yeah man, you can always separate out seedlings and sell or trade as many extra as you care to part with.
Also, never know what will happen to them in the meantime or how many will grow well and thrive.
Just keep them growing and you will be good, brother.

I had a few plants flower after 2 years in pots. My in ground plants take longer to flower but YMMV.

Environment is a big factor I believe
