Thanks for sharing this stuff is interesting. I believe mycelium or spores might be the original panspermia lifeform

Would all living things on earth have DNA in common with them if they were aliens?

Its pretty accepted that first life were rudimantary cyanobacteria like organisms. Mushrooms grow on the remnants of other life. Illogical that they were first,

Yes. For two reasons. They've been around as long as life has been around. Regardless if they came from somewhere else, everything evolved alongside eachother. Think of how many species have evolved and gone extinct. You can't even breathe without inhaling some kind of spore.

The other reason being that we have no proof that aliens would greatly differ from us. In fact they could be really quite similar, even down to the DNA considering what needs to happen to create an intelligent, sentient being. They might look different but much the same. An example is how things crab. Nature on earth has developed many species that are inextricably similar yet share no common ancestry. Crabs have been made over and over again without any link, and many of them aren't even crabs. They're smaller creatures with very similar characteristics. The dire wolf is another example. A canine yet should be considered a completely separate and extinct genetic line from the wolves we know today. I have no reason to believe that what we know of as a human couldn't arise out of another planet. If they shared enough characteristics they'd have similar DNA because it's all just biological coding. The only thing that would assure differences is environmental factors. Maybe they breathe a lot of methane and have lower gravity.

This also means that both can be true. Mushrooms could very well have evolved here separately while panspermia actively seeded the planet.

This is a good question!

The thing to take into account is that all things change over time. The mushrooms of today are different to those of 10,000 years ago which are different again to those from 2 billion years ago.

So while the fungi we see today occupy a certain ecological niche where they function as decomposers and feed on and help decay organic matter, what fungi looked like 2 billion years ago and what they "ate" were probably quite different compared to today's fungi.

Maybe the first fungi got their energy from chemical processes or from photosynthesis, and when plants evolved fungi then moved to a new source of food and energy. A bit like how our ancestors ate bison and reindeer and gazelles, and now we pig out on McDonalds.
