I harvested the second bag last night, some nice specimens in there. This bag was CV like the last and had dried out like the last too. Unfortunately, it is one and done because of the green. Still, a respectable yield. I recently cased a sweater box of Subtropicalis that is on straw so well see how that goes.

Lovely looking stringy Bois. Their caps get much more pigmented when they have abundant direct light. I believe you mentioned yours had ambient light from the side? This is my direct light unmodified tub that has a fair amount of cap and stipe pigment. My other tub that gets much less light than this one is similarly pigmented/pale like yours is here.

So my Subs (rockyfungus culture) are finally pinning after like 2 months (idk) of just sitting there. Just 1 pin but it's a start! This time they have charcoal casing so nothing to contam and abort the developing fruits I assume.
Fingers crossed.

My 2020 print from Alan R. hasn't germinated 18 days later, but no surprise there.
Below is a Xico (Veracruz, MΓ©xico) wild print germ plate, PDA + antibiotic. The myc cleaves closely to the surface of the agar, and isn't very organized. I was unsure that this is the myc I was looking for, but it took 7-8 days to germinate, is slow growing, and hasn't changed color or done anything else weird in 15 days. Either the myc is a slow contam or this is a very clean print. These pics are from day 11:

Transfers are looking more organized and fluffier, but still not as fluffy as other pics of the species on agar I've seen here. Transfers are to PDA agar, no antibiotic, which may be why the growth is more organized.

Thoughts? These look OK/like the real deal? Anyone else started a wild print of subtrop?
Waiting on germination from Melgo's print on PDA no AB, only been 3 days. Will be interesting to compare!

It looks strange, my Sub germinations look way more dense. It will depend on the nute level so I can't say for sure.

I pull mine off a clump at a time, and it pulls up the casing layer just as shown in Fresh's video. Just re-case and wait for second flush. Works fine for me.

Nice. I'll probably do the same. I'm tired of cutting 1 fruit at a time with my cubes. This looks so much easier.

You are still going to have to cut each fruit off the mess eventually. This just adds another layer of complexity to it!

Nice looking fruits before the green got em Yoshi.Looks like you got some decent spore production as well. I have a tub that was spawned and fruited at the same time as my unmodified tub that I've already harvested the first flush from and it's weeks behind. I think the wetter substrate is to blame.

Thank you Gano, considering almost 0 care, im pretty happy. A big difference between your two tubs but that 2nd is still nice and full! Are you running a clone?

Turns out the neglect Tek approach can work for exotics too π€£. It is a clone from an agar fruit yes. I find myself peeping in to the tubs most often with this species. They are my favorite aesthetically.

Well, it took three swabs and a month, but crisis averted.

I was about to start coming in here shaking my cup at you guys.
Next batch of spores is going right to the fridge.
