Looks like the entire old guard of Democratic leaders are stepping aside to support younger leadership. Pretty stunning actually.

Good should have been done years ago. There's only so many folks you can rub the wrong way before you should resign in shame. Makes you wonder who's running that clown show. I would have told her for years to stop being a cunt your just pissing people off and step down.

What exactly did she do wrong? Everyone seems to agree that she is good at her job, which is to pass legislation with the support of the entire caucus.

She didn't do anything wrong. People dislike her due to all the attack adds being effective plus garden variety misogyny.

I think her constantly denigrating progressives while calling for a “strong Republican Party” is bad

That's kind of the job, though. Keep your people in line and poach people from the other side when possible.

I agree Ice9. If she was an old man like Tip O'Neil instead of an old woman there would be less vitriol. Some of it comes with the territory. I loathed many Republican Speakers, such as Newt Gingrich and Paul Ryan. I don't remember hating Denny Hastert; maybe he was more moderate. He was from less than 20 miles from me and was later disclosed to be sex offender from back in his High School wrestling coach days. They had to rename streets and buildings around here.
Pelosi lasted because Democrats thought she was good at her job. She had two terms earlier and two now. There was never popular support to replace her.

She actively kills local businesses and industries in favor of large, multi-national corporations.
Fishing, for example.

That would put her in the same boat as 99.9% of the major players in the capitalist world.
Although I disagree with The Ecstatic on the differences between the parties, because social issues are important, I have to agree that there's just a sliver of difference on the most important issue, capitalism. There is such a consensus there that only a handful of Democrats would even call it an issue. The Republicans talk about small business, or at least they used to, but it's only talk. As long as anything resembling our economic system is operating, big business calls the shots.

Socialism is the Blue-washed (by the Red) new nazisim in America. Better be careful or some redneck might call you a socialist-commie bastard.
