    #2805515 - 06/18/04 02:33 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

I live in the Gulf Coast Area and its been raining pretty heavy for the last few days. Anyway, today when i woke up i saw my lawn full of these little guys, if anyone could help me I.D. em, i would greatly appreciate it.

The majority of the ones growing in the grass of my front lawn are these:

There are also quite a few of these growing in the flower beds:

There are a bunch of fat ones like this too:

-Thanks

Top ones look like pan foes. Read the guidlines for ID and give us more info. Don't eat anything yet...:)

I have a patch of over 200 of the exact same ones on my lawn here in GA! I always mulch when I mow, so I am supporting these mushrooms growth... they are not active and are not good to eat!

If you find any more of those top ones growing, take a fairly thick spore print.

You must have oak trees growing in your yard.

The second Bolete looks like a Tylopilus, however the pictures is of poor quality. The third one appears to be a Xerocomus of the Boletus genus, i.e. Boletus (Xerocomus) rubellus.

Some pan foes actually do contain small amounts (%). [psilocybin]
Others do not, but wether they are poisonous or not is unkown.

no, they most likely do not. this BS almost certainly stems from an error in with Pan. subbalteatus was labled as Pan. foenisecii, and hence, was printed in one field quide as such. many writers of poor field quides being lazy, it has been printed in guide after guide without verification ever since.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Ah! People need to some cleaning up (deleting false reports of Panaeolina foenisecii containing psilocybin).

Also, you have the same lawn mushrooms as me.
