    #28050936 - 11/14/22 03:05 PM (1 year, 4 months ago)

Found in Norway in November.
. Spores are brown/purple.

DRIED specimen has 2.5 cm cap diameter. Length of 5cm. Gills don’t seem to attach to stem.

Grew by a hiking trail.

forgot about the mushroom and it dried. So not a lot of photos to go after, sry.

The first pic looks like large Psilocybe semilanceata.

Seems like the wrong habitat though.

Do sheep or other herbivores live nearby?

Leaves and pine needles, so not semi habitat. Pretty sure it’s not those. Sheep might walk there freely in the summer

I agree, the habitat is wrong. Where in Norway was this? P. pelliculosa was found just north of Oslo a few years back, on a forest hiking trail.

Found the spot again. Was by a hiking trail through a forest of mostly pine. Around the spot there was pine, beech and rowan(Sorbus aucuparia). Also some grass/sedge nearby. Cap diameter 3.5cm and length 7cm for the biggest specimen.

Last image , I have picked the fruits, but it shows the spot.

Looking at the new pictures I'd suggest some kind of Hypholoma. They're still a bit too far gone to tell for sure though, but quite certain they're not a Psilocybe species.

Okay. Thanks Anglerfish! :hatsoff:
Your vast knowledge once again crushed my hope of finding exotic psilocybes  Will keep on trying

Don't take my word for it, but yes, keep looking. However the winter is not far off, so you might
have to wait for the next season.

You find many actives except libs btw?

Not many, no. Panaeolus cinctulus sometimes in the summer, and also two assumed finds of Gymnopilus luteofolius the two previous seasons.

A guy from eastern Norway also found Psilocybe pelliculosa a few years ago, but I don't think he's found them since.

I'm pretty sure P. medullosa is possible to find in the larger forested areas of Norway Spruce, unfortunately that's a rare tree species where I live, but more common in the eastern parts and the north.

Nice.
Cool that there are some active psilocybes that are associated with conferious forests, since theres a lot of that here. There's some spruce where I live actually...
