Does anyone know if it is safe to put mushroom tablets in a vitamin/herb jar in the suitcase and check it in and fly with it?

Last time I asked this I was crucified for asking. On the other hand my GF just flew with some mushroom caps in a bottle of supplements in her carryon and was fine.

Caps are low risk but not no risk. Dogs aren’t looking for it, TSA doesn’t really care. Just make it look like it belongs there.

I don't advocate for the smuggling of illegal substances, especially not across National/Regional borders. Keep in mind that airport security is looking for specific dangers, such as bombs, weapons, and half-filled shampoo bottles. They don't care if you bring medicine onto a plane. I've brought OTC melatonin on a flight and have never been asked what it was. Supplements are not regulated in the US, and pills are a compact non suspect form. Thus, pills in a supplement bottle alongside prescription medicine or other supplements may be a viable solution for your issue. However, if you are asked what it is, you need to be able to answer with confidence, and nonchalantly. Assess your risk, and ask yourself is it worth being caught with. Growing mushrooms is easy, and you can mail yourself a spore print with ease safely via USPS. Transporting grown mushrooms however carries a completely different risk profile, with consequences ranging from debilitating to life ruining.
My suggestion? Don't do it. If you're on vacation, trip a day or two before you get on the plane. That way when you're back in a week or two you're already fully acclimated to sobriety and you can trip at full effect. If you're going somewhere longterm (several months, or permanently), just mail yourself some spores. Besides, any amount of pills you can toss in a bottle won't last you very long if you're a regular user, and if you try to take more than that, you'll most certainly be asked some questions.

Oh! Years ago, five years about, friend was hopping plane to Hawaii for vacation. He put two pounds herb in his carry on bag and boarded plane just fine. Said made way to Hawaii easy selling his marijuana. I laughed to his telling me he to board with two pounds bagged in his bag. He saw no issue to it as it was of no issue.

Your friend is very lucky. My perspective is that of a careful one. I look at risks, and consider the consequences, and whether it is truly worth it or not to me. I think a balanced variety is healthy in this forum.
Not to mention, characteristic discrimination, whether race, age, sex, gender status, etc. could play a factor, as well. It is no secret that middle eastern citizens are unfairly treated in United States airports. I imagine that your average caucasian citizen would have little issue though. I am not a frequent flier anymore, but I have seen close friends discriminated against before.
