Please HELP. I think my cacti buttons are in trouble.

They appear to be in the early rotting stage. Starting to shrivel a bit. Here is a pic. WHAT DO I DO???
(They are currently only recieving partial light coming in from a window through blins. No direct sun, it's the sunlight that bounces off the building next door basically. They have not been watered yet. It's been about 4 weeks since they were cut, and 2 weeks since they've been on soil and surrounded by gravel. I wonder - should I water already? Is that it? Or should I actually put them in the sun for a couple hours a day?)
Thank you very much. Me, and every one of these little guys thanks for your help.

Do you smoke? I've never read anything on it, but I noticed my plants doing absolutely terrible when they were in the smoking sections of my house. Sunlight, and foliar feeding are the only suggestions I have for you right now though.

they're shrivelling cause they haven't had water. Water them, but if the water starts to pool or stand around the ones that are directly on the soil then i'd bottom water by soaking the pot in a volume of water.

I do smoke, but I never smoke inside the house - only herb. And even that, only in the living room. So, smoke is not the problem.
I have watered them and hopefully that will help. I have also moved them outside, where they will get a few hours of direct sun every morning. Though I thought they didn't like direct sun... Maybe I should put a shade over them or something.
Any more input? I really have to save these guys.
Thanks.

The ones in the pot don't have roots correct?
If so then don't put them in direct sunlight, the graft should be kept shaded for a while until it's real healthy too.

Yeah, peyote hate direct sun. It will sunburn them. Dappled sun, ie., sun through something so that it's patchy is best. Wow, I once moved a pot of peyote into full afternoon sun and fucked them right up. Luckily they didn't die. Peyotes take some care and a good amount of balanced treatment. I stare at them for a minute or two every day and try to see what they want. I have a problem in the South that they get too much water from rain and yet I don't want to grow them indoors because they will never dry out.

Thanks for the feedback. That's exactly what I felt about the sun, too. After all, they grow under the shade of the spikey bushes, never out in the open.
And I like what you said about staring at them and trying to listen. I do it everyday. I sit there and look at them, observing any subtle changes, and doing my best to try and accomodate them.
Thanks to you all for your advice.

I'm going to put screening up, so they don't burn. Especially with temps like today.
But you know what? Right at the "lines" on the cacti - they appear to be coming apart or something. Like the lines are seperating.
Is that good? Also, what about color? Light vs. dark tell anything?

Bad news right now. Quite a few of them are REALLY rotting. Some are loosing color(turning yellowish), others are "deflating", and others are lightening in color or darkening in color.
Luckily, a few of them are showing growth, I think. The lines seem to be seperating. It's the buttons are opening or something, so I think that's good.
Any saving the rotting ones? anything?
If not, I guess I'll slice and dry em. If I do slice up the rotting ones, is there anything wrong with eating some of the rotting part of it, or should be cutting very carefully?
Thanks. To whomever may know...

I believe eating the rotting part would give you a nasty case of food poisioning.
