It does work, increase sterilization time for jars by about 30 mins, bags about 45-60min. Atmospheric pressure sterilizers work too, just takes longer (8 hours or something).

Just increase sterilization times. I couldn’t find a 15psi cooker either, steam sterilize in a big pot with boiling water in the bottom. I use 90 minutes for agar and 3h for grain spawn, so far I’ve been good. The absolute vast majority of my empty agar plates ends up clean, and so far haven’t had grain jars contaminate. So I wouldn’t worry too much as long as you increase the times.

That’s about the same pressure as my Instant Pot. Works perfectly every time.

It is possible to buy 13 PSI pressure cookers in Europe. For example Silit Sicomatic T-plus and WMF Perfect are rated at 13-14 PSI (according to their manuals). That gives a temperature of 119 °C.
I have used a 13 PSI pressure cooker for almost 20 years, and it has worked perfectly for sterilizing grain, agar, and so on.

That graph is a god send. I've had a table out of some German biology text book flying around before, but couldn't find that anymore. Thanks.

Want to see something ridiculous? https://autoklav.at/product_info.php?info=p244_autoklaven-elektrisch--edelstahl-agee40--fuer-40-glaeser-0-5-liter-oder-28-glaeser-1-liter-automatische-temperatur--und-zeitunterstuetzung--vollautomatik-.html Scroll down until you see the pressure gauge @ over 80 PSI, though a little pricey. (Seems like a good compromise compared to an AA 75x for Europeans, considering how hard it is to get AAs past customs here...).

If 6L isn't too small for you I'm happy with this one. https://www.silberthal.de/products/schnellkochtopf-6l-induktion-edelstahl Good quality and reduced price at the moment. Temperature reaches 120°C respectively 14.5psi.

Those autoclaves on that autoklav are insane! I’ve had the one that can hold 14L jars bookmarked for a few months! One of these days I’m gunna buy it! One of these days….

Haha, cheers bud! I believe it was you that linked the website when I first saw it. It’s more or less exactly the same price as a 2’X2’ FFU I’m definitely gunna purchase at some point this year.
Now I’m thinking, autoclave or FFU first. I’ve got a very low contam rate in my SAB anyways and to be able to just load jars, flick a switch and walk away is just too attractive a concept to ignore!

Thanks for this. Just ordered myself a 8.5L WMF Perfect Plus, after a long time hesitating. Almost ready to take my first baby steps.

They deliver also to Europe, but I'm going to let my folks send it to me I use a cheap PC which is at around 12-13 psi. Works fine though only 6L ^^ Saving up for the autoclave
