I've tried 6+ different brands/types etc. These are THE SHIT:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0894RSTF8

Best of all the plastics. With any plastic lid, be sure you use filters with them or they can warp. You can leave them a little loose instead but I don't like the (possibly small) added contam risk of something getting sucked up in the jar from ambient air when they are in the cooling stage. I don't like the stick-on SFDs. I like the glue-on.

What I love about these is that they use and come with a silicone gasket, but unlike all the others I've bought, these have a retainer lip built into the lid that keeps the silicone gasket in place. The other style gaskets just fall out, and sometimes fall into your jar.... just a pain in the ass and you can't glue them either. These are all I use now.

Where do you get those filters? How many times can you re-use them?

Right here:
https://www.shroomsupply.com/air-filtration/synthetic-filter-disc-29-mm

The stick-on discs can work and I do use them but only for LC. The stick-on ones are just very thin and I don't trust them for grain jars where the shaking action creates a lot of pumping force of air through the filter.

The above ones are solid. Nice and thick. I glue them on with red RTV. You don't need to use the red high-temp stuff since regular silicone is heat-safe to PC temps but I find the red stuff has better adhesion to the plastics of the lids. For a nice clean installation, use the ~3oz toothpaste type size, not the caulking gun size, hold the filter in one hand and with your other hand, squeeze out a nice even bead around one side of the filter near the edge, then flip it over and set it on the lid and press down. Don't smear it with your finger.

I have re-used these dozens of times. I don't think they will ever go bad.

I recognize the names from the Dark Tower series. Steven Kings best work imo but I think they're derived from older mythical stories

If you do want to even it out with your finger, dip said finger in soap water then after shaping the silicone completely wipe off any silicone you accumulated on your finger and dip it in the water again for the next pass.

I got 50lbs for $25

I probably would have tried it sooner if I known I could find it locally for that price.. I think it was a couple dollars cheaper than I'd normally spend on a bag of oats

Damn... and I was feeling really good about my $25 bag of Rye

I was going to ask about their wheat prices, but decided to hold off a little while longer and try it out some other time.
