I have benn hunting shrooms in North Carolina for two years and grew cubies last year with great success. Today I was greating my girlfriend in my yard and came across some shrooms in the grass that looked like Muscaria. I picked one up to take a closer look and not but 30 seconds later they started to turn blue/black where I touched them. They do have a conical cap and a spongey (boleus) type undergirth. Sorry, been a while, so I have forgotten the terminology. Please take a look at the pics and let me know what you think. I do remember that if it turns blue from touch that I am on to something.
Thanks a ton for any input!! Muecci

After posting I remembered that you need more details to help with the ID on these little guys. Here is some more information:
a. These were found in grass, so they must be "dirt" feeders. b. The undercap is a sponge type pattern, not gills. c. They range from "1.5 tall to "3 tall (inches). d. I don't see any "warts" growing on the cap but they are clearly young in their life cycle.
Also, the sponge type undercap does scare me because I have read that this type of undercap is typically poisenous. My digi-cam isn't very acurate at close range but I will try to get better pics after I charge my batteries.
Thanks again to this site and all the helpfull information. It was great when I grew my cubies!
