Official growing Treasure Coast TC Thread
    #28024337 - 10/30/22 11:16 AM (2 years, 2 months ago)

Hi,

Let's try to understand Treasure Coast !

I did many research, even if it's an very old strain, we can't find lots of reliable data about this one.

So here we are, I starting this thread to regroup successful known growth parameters: such as Light, Relative humidity, temperature, and air exchange.

It seems fruiting conditions can be tricky, some have wonderful results others lots of aborts.

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/28024023#28024023

The question is what are the best conditions for fruiting TC ?

Quote:

Ryche Hawk claims the TC can grow 3 distinctly different types of substrain, implying you never know what you'll get when you use multispore to grow TC.

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22756855

Also since it could have multiple substrain I assume those fruiting conditions could be different from one TC grow to another.

So the real question for TC is what are the possible conditions.

We can also try to understand witch substrain appearing most or if it's complete random.

Here is best data I found about TC:

From some spore sellers:
The Psilocybin Cubensis Treasure Coast originates from the east coast of Florida (Florida, Southern Gulf Coast, USA). It’s named after the area it was found is referred to as treasure coast because of all the ship wrecks and the treasures found there.

A very prolific fruiter and has the ability to occasionally spin off albino, or near albino. The are very potent mushrooms with the white being more potent than the rest for some reason. It’s a slow grower but holds very high yielding most of the time.

Characteristics:
- Cultivation difficulty: Easy
- Potency: Moderate to potent
- Fruiting time: 14 - 21 days
- Fruiting temperature: 23 - 27 Celsius.

It is often an extreme carcass colonizer (peat and coconut) and encapsulates everything available with dense mycelium before its first fruiting cycle. This strain typically produces a higher overall yield, as well as the number of individual mushrooms. They are also known to produce occasional albinos. Above average in vitro (in the bag) fruiting. It also fruits well in BRF, in grain, and on pasteurized or sterilized substrates. Love the outdoors!

Psilocybe Cubensis Treasure Coast is a quick colonizer. It typically produces a large overall magic mushroom yield, but spread out over more flushes. In fact this psilocybe cubensis strain flushes repeatedly, with very little time between each flush.

Treasure Coast Albino is native to the northeast coast of Florida, this leucistic variety produces deep black spores, and can produce large mushrooms. They tend to be a bit slower to fruit compared to other varieties, but their potency is above average due to their slow maturation, which makes them very potent compared to the original Treasure Coast. Without a doubt, its intensity in terms of the visual effects it provokes is the most remarkable, although creativity also increases, allowing you to advance in situations in which you need to squeeze all your artistic potential

The Strain Thread:

The history of the Treasure Coast Cube is shrouded in mystery.

Treasure Coast was first sold by Mr. G. the controversial creator of the B+ (f you didn't know the story, Mr. G. claims his B+ was a cube/azure hybrid... it isn't). Because Mr. G. is one of the most unreliable vendors to have ever had a user account here at The Shroomery, it is impossible to know if he is telling the truth about his creations in any of his posted rants. Use the search feature to learn more about Mr. G.

wow this is an eternity. come on tc, hurry up, hurry up girl.....just creepin along. now creeper were even slower than tc. but so far, tc takes the cake on slow fruiting.....wow!

it never was a pf cake. I just spawned a 1/2pint jar of wbs to 90/10 coir/coffee so it would improve water retention & yield.

I grew Treasure Coast on my first try...I made many mistakes after birthing the cakes...I found them to be very forgiving, and also very prolific. Try not to worry...you'll do fine...Lot's of great people here to help you!!!

OK...first off...these look like TCs to me. The caps are perfect TCs. Let's not forget the fact that TCs can throw off numerous substrains. This is probably a characteristic of one of them.

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/71374#71374

Quote:

my TCs were very slow colonizers at 80 degrees. They fruited in big clusterfucks and the fruits were fairly small but totally made up for it by sheer numbers. The TC trip for me is a total mind fuck. not like any of the other strains I have taken.

Quote:

TC's are very nice. Alot of large fruits, given favorable conditions. Better used with poop/straw.

the dark cap one is still growing fine he's just dark the other one is the same size as the dark one and still white the cap is Maybe it will change. Man this cow poo is killer I have around 175 to 270 pin on this casing Damn you have to love that poo.

When incubating I have mine at 84 and they were 100% in a week I spawn it in the dung after 5 days it was 100% cold shocked it and then 3 days later pinning started. this was a casing that had extreme overlay too I just broke it all up and recased it and bam

Is this one of the substrain ? The Tiny one ?

I got some little TCs, they are so tiny this is sort of beautiful

They are growing very slow.

I think they have a stronger mushy smell one once dryed.

It seems to just be a cube. Grown exactly how you would grow any other cube. All the threads you reference are like 10+ years old so basically just consider them useless if they go against generally accepted practices today.

if 3 substrain can express themselves, then we may possibly have variation for those 3 growing conditions ?

But yes sure, when I think about it this will be adjustment since all cubes are mostly growing the same way.

Yes I will try to upgrade this and find more recent one, but seems TC topic is not well documented.

Ok, so anybody have an idea why those one are so little and slow to grow ?

As I see it my TC cake is not performing like my other cubes.

I got 3 strains growing in different Tub with near like same condition for all of them.

when you germinate spores you are rolling the genetic dice. i did some treasure coast PF cakes a few years ago that put out surprisingly big fruits

I am a n00b.

My second ever monotub batch was the leucistic TC variety, grown from LC to millet, added to a bulk of coir. when colonized (to 90%), added a jiffy mix casing. The colonization took 2 weeks, it took a week to pin, and another week until harvest.

This produced a great thick canopy of identical sized fruits on the first flush, approximately 3 oz dry. I did not get a second flush, because the casing went green shortly after harvest.

My subjective experience (taking only 1 gram dried) was that these were quite potent. Strong body effects. Very visual-even at this pretty low dose. Quite enjoyable.
