I am new to mushroom growing and I would appreciate feedback regarding current colonization status on three jars and one jar which looks to be contaminated.
I made BRF cakes from two parts verm one part brown rice flower in half pint mason jars. Inoculated jars on the 25th of OCT. Cakes have been kept on a shelf at room temp, generally. I have a space heater that I used until i noticed one jar with potential contamination. Pictures taken on day 7.
Inquiries: - is growth on three jars normal RESOLVED - is single pictured jar is contaminated? RESOLVED

I think these are his pictures ;-)
edit: the first one with that greenish/bluish thing inside is contaminated in my opinion. The other look more or less okay I think. But the Pictures are a bit blurry...

Contaminated jar in question. Will eventual mycellium colonization eat this? If so, are there negative side effects assumed for future flushes?

The type of growth on the middle jar is nearly identical to the others. Webby like knots that slowly connnect to each other.

No, the mold will compete with the mycelium. U could try fruit it but make sure to isolate-fruit that cake so it does infect your other cakes.
Your cakes substrate came out chunky. Make sure your PF mix is consistent before loading into the jars. Cakes can fracture or stall if the mix inside is inconsistent.

yea looks maybe too wet? not sure if you did this but ime it is best to check for field capacity before adding brf.

Yes it was too wet. I only waited a few hours to inoculate after i took the brf cakes off the stove. The last group of cakes i made i waited a day before inoculation and I left them on stove tll then.

Definitely. On my last group of cakes I focused on the verm+water consistency before adding brf and also waited a full day before inoculation. I 'experimented' a little and put a thicker verm decon layer on top this time (3/4 - 1 inch) in hopes of a quicker colonization. Little or no sweating on jars
