I've got vivant and I've been pretty happy with it. Never had security before in my life. Cool job tho, the techs that worked at my house did really well seemed happy, and made quick work of it.

Seems like a good system and Company. Wireless technology is really taking off right now. I install commercial grade security camera systems, they have to be hardwired with Cat5e or Cat6 wiring, some are still done with coaxial. It's called HD over coax.
There's many options nowadays.
How is their monitoring? Have you had any incidents?
Thanks for the compliment about work. It's definitely a good workout and I'm never in the same place twice. Just a lot of driving.
I still recommend wired security camera systems. They have Poe technology and power supplies, so you never have to worry about batteries. Also, in some cases, wireless security cameras interfere with one another. Cutting manufacturing corners.
Although, it's the future! Wireless technology is taking over

The monitoring has been spot on so far, and no real incidents just my own tripping the alarm kinda stuff. I do like hardwired shits, and that's def more work to set up, I'd imagine the video quality and such to he kickass. These cameras I have are super clean res , so for wireless I'm definitely impressed there. Fortunately the cameras are plugged in interior of home so they have a power supply just communicate wirelessly. So far the only battery issues I've had is with the door sensor that I use the most. But I replaced with expensive lithium battery rated for 10 years so hopefully she will last awhile. The only thing mangled to any degree at this stage of use is the actual door locks don't want to sense when they ate shut properly anymore.. But yeah I work in kinda a similar vein although My trade has me there quite a Bit longer time frames. Cheers!

What is your opinion on the Ubiquiti offerings?
I use a handful of their networking appliances for my home network, and intend on installing cameras once I have the funds for running cat6, but per Reddit it seems their video surveillance is hit and miss.

From what I just seen by looking at their website, they seem about the same as the other residential wireless security camera systems. It's the future. Just not hard wired

I recommend IP cameras and NVR boxes. Run with cat6.
If you want to save some money, then go with coaxial HD over coax security camera systems.
