It made news because Twitter is garbage and Elon spent $44B on it. Not only did he spend that money, but he also is going to run it into the ground. On top of that, he knew he was buying garbage and tried to back out, but he legally couldn't.
You are a big fat poo poo head on this. Your statement is meaningless to everybody but you. You have designed in meaningless qualifiers to make you feel good. Oh, it's freedom to voice an opinion if you manage to get through the gate keeping but not freedom if there is objection. It's a dumb argument and you need to move on. Twitter sucks and you still don't understand the internet.

This back-breaking conglomeration of words is even more hilarious when one considers that parody enjoys specific protections under law, whereas incitement to violence is one of the few forms of speech prohibited in the USA.
Elon Musk is still censoring incitement to violence. And he's not censoring parody; you just can't pretend to be someone you're not.
His fight is to allow people freedom of expression; your fight seems to be to allow people to lie and deceive.
Examples of clearly delineated parody accounts still being banned are present in this thread (I saw Kryptos mention h3h3h3) - but you continue to frame it as 'more freedom'. Whereas Donald Trump was banned for incitement to violence - but you continue to frame it as an example of the type of bad censorship that Elon Musk will end.
Christopera is absolutely correct to inquire about your back.

I said people are now free to state their opinion on Twitter. Do you think freedom of expression should include freedom to impersonate others, freedom to threaten others, freedom to share nuclear design secrets, etc?

One last "poo poo head" insult because you're still not able to actually explain yourself.

Was it clearly delineated? When I first read it, it looked like an Elon Musk post. Only if you went into the information section did you see the word "parody". Maybe Twitter needs to be clearer on the new rule.

Why don't you post the Tweet Trump made that you believe incited violence.

Okay poo poo head. You called koods the king of make believe for years. Now you get to be the poo poo head. You brought this on yourself. Your lack of objectivity regarding twitter is not just obvious, it is a finger poke to the eye of anybody actually looking at this situation with some honesty. For the last time, Twitter was never a platform for fee speech and it will never be a platform for free speech. Wake up and understand how the internet works. Twitter in its past form moderated things as they see fit, Twitter in its current form moderates too. Your version of free speech is a joke.

Do you think that in order to be a platform for free speech, Twitter needs to allow people freedom to threaten other users, freedom to share nuclear design secrets, etc? I'm happy if Twitter is the first mainstream social media platform to allow people to give their opinion about Ukraine and other topics.

Chipzel got her account suspended for changing her account name to Elon Musk "parody".
Literally put "parody" in the account name.
Australian website The Chaser got their account banned for changing their name to Elon Musk Fondles Dogs.

Here's a good overview of the situation from Nilay Patel:
Quote:
The problem when the asset is people is that people are intensely complicated, and trying to regulate how people behave is historically a miserable experience, especially when that authority is vested in a single powerful individual.
What I mean is that you are now the King of Twitter, and people think that you, personally, are responsible for everything that happens on Twitter now. It also turns out that absolute monarchs usually get murdered when shit goes sideways.

If that was really the reason for banning the account, I'll disagree with Twitter.

Actually, that better explains why the account was suspended. Verified accounts need to actually represent the person being verified.

If you verify your account as you, but you impersonate someone else, that defeats the purpose of verification, doesn't it?

This. 100%. Case closed. Just sit back and enjoy the show while it lasts.

Not according to the rules. If you pay 8$, you're verified. That's the rule.

Well, that makes sense, you're reading the wrong webpage.
I know that the internet can be a confusing and hard to navigate place. So I helpfully linked the page about verified accounts. You seem to have confused them with professional accounts.

Elon, staunch defender of freedumb, will bring back freedom of speech to Twitter and change the world! No more censurship, canceling, political pandering / blah blah blah.
Freedom?...on twitter....lol. C'mon dude...
More freedom!... on the privately owned online social media platform who's distinguishing feature is idiotically restricting the length of all users tweets to 280 characters. Not 280 words - but characters...
Freedumb. Yup.
