MSS Texas Orange Cap shorties I'm noticing that the pseudo top casing won't colonize when using grated PF cakes as spawn. Maybe I'm making them too thick but when I use grain spawn that doesn't happen.
Those are beautiful! Never seen these grown before. Thank you for sharing.

Not sure, but I’d flip that cake and put it in a water tub.

Yeah. You are missing a black liner (many people will tell you color doesn't matter because light doesn't and blablabla but.. )

Because you did not use a plastic liner, so when the substrate shrank it created the perfect micro climate between the tub and the sub for fruiting.
This is why plastic liners are recommended, it sticks to the sub as it shrinks eliminating the microclimate and all side pinning.

I flipped one and vermed it, i left one as is and i didnt flip 1 and vermed it as well to see which one does better. Also heavily misted everything.

Yeah. You are missing a black liner (many people will tell you color doesn't matter because light doesn't and blablabla but.. )
Yooo what??? for real? I thought light didnt matter for side pins, i actually hope your rigt because thats an easy fix. Ive always used black and never had this issue before, but i had a bunch of painting poly so i figured i would use it up.
Ill be going back to black next cycel and see if this helps, thanks.

If you look closer you will see there is in fact plastic liners. Although they are clear, but i thought colour didnt matter.
