Low shoebox yields

I ran some tests with locally available shoeboxes, and I'm getting lower yields than what's reported by others. The boxes are 10% smaller than the 6qt sterilite but I get about half to a third of the yield of e.g. ShaperDreaming.
Anyone got a tip on what I should be focusing on? I made a grow log here. Brief summary: Strain: B+ a2g Spawn Rye in 1l jar, 2/3s full Casing: bucket pasteurized coir Spawn:casing 1:1.4 Top layer: a bit over field capacity coir, half inch thick. FAE: lid has vent holes on the short sides. Misting: about 10 squirts on day 1, repeated a few squirts the next few days.
Here's the box that yielded most, and also finished first. Dry weight of first flush was 14g, harvested after 17 days.

Surface after 11 days:
For comparison, I also ran a smaller box with a bag and air holes a la Bod. This box had half the amount of spawn and a thinner top layer. The box is about 20% smaller (footprint) than the sterilite 6qt.
Surface after 11 days:

This box-in-a-bag was harvested on day 18. Dry weight: 9.8g

So I got more per spawn out of the bagged box but still less than I would expect.
I've grown this strain on BRF in a water tub, and here I got 5g per cake (200ml jars) over 2-3 flushes. The fruits were bigger on BRF compared to the box grows. I've made three different LCs from agar, and they all produce similar fruits and yields.

Many factors to consider, not the least the genetics involved. High yields come from good clones usually. If you made agar, added spores, did a couple of transfers and then put that to grain and got what you have there, then I would assume you are doing things mostly correctly in terms of cult practices... You may see some improvement in yield by taking a good clone with a solid and heavy stipe and reproducing that on agar then back to grain again, I would reckon you may do better then with that same variety
Other than that you might mess with moisture content a little and see if you can bring it up like that without ruining field capacity. More available water usually leads to bigger flushes
Tried p9's casing method? this also may improve overall yield. It increased clustering behaviour across several varieties of cubes I tried it on. Check it out for yourself, YMMV

Ok, I see. Does timing matter for finding a good clone candidate? I got some big fruits on BRF, but they came several days after the first flush. I thought that would be a slow strain, but maybe I'm wrong.
The first three boxes I did came from a plate with pins on it. 4 to 10 o'clock, several strains i presume:

The fourth box came from this isolated strain:

I got similar yields from all of these. I'll try a box with p9's tek. I don't have space for a mono but I guess bagging the box would be the same.

They say to clone from the first flush and usually I would but I have also seen things pop up later on that looked so nice I had to grab some regardless of what they say
Those turned out very well for me sometimes. I look at it this way. If your tub should take a week longer but be full of mushrooms do you really care if it takes a week longer? You could just account for that as part of your routine of inoculations. So once you know, it doesn't matter in future runs
Of course I am not in any race. Someone culting commercially where dollars per day becomes a factor may have different concerns and want the fastest thing available

Yeah, I'm not in a rush either. As long as I get consistent fruit development, good yields and potency, then I'm happy. The one's I've grown so far are more potent than any cube I've had before. Taking between 0.7 - 1.5g so far, I would compare the potency to semilanceata.

My temperature is between 66-68F by the way. I've read that it should be around 73-75. Do low temps impact fruit size, or just the speed of growth?

I always managed to grow mostly decent flushes in low temps, but it does take longer for sure

Thanks man, appreciate your input. Think I'll go back to the spore print and look for clones on the next run.
