Any recommendations on drying mushrooms?

Hey peeps, I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for drying their mushrooms. I am wanting to use a food dehydrator but am afraid of the heat being too high. Any thoughts? Thanks.

100% get a food dehydrator. The temperature will not be too high.
You can make a psychedelic tea by boiling mushrooms in water. Water boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit. Therefore temperatures up to 212 F do not degrade the active compounds in Ps. cubensis.
I run my food dehydrator at 165 F for 8-12 hours, depending on the size of the flush.

Psilocybin has a high melting point around 220C well above the temps that dehydrators reach, witch is around 170F.

There's only one option when it comes to drying mushrooms and that's a dehydrator
If you're worried about the heat then eat some afterward to discover it wasn't an issue

yes! The myth of psilocybin being so delicate just won’t die.
Btw that’s the melting point for crystalline psilocybin. Organically bound it can go higher. However we’re nearing the point that your smoke alarm will be reminding you about the mushroom pizza you left under the broiler a little too long.

also remember drying is worthless if you dont keep them try. get tightly sealed containers or a foodsaver, and learn to charge desiccant packs

I personally use a Presto Dehydro..any cheap/standard dehydrator will work, you don't need an adjustable/digital fancy one..unless your planning on using for other household/garden food items.
The temperture around 160-165f actually helps PRESERVE from degradation..a simple analogy...the way you "sear" a steak to keep the "juices"and flavor in...the same way a high temp dehydrator will "sear" the mushrooms and get them dry ASAP.
The truth is,the faster you dry,the better, period. Oxidation occurs with moisture.
Lastly,a BARE minimum is to dehydrate for 12 hours...depending on the fruit size/amount/density....you want 24+ hours...
A TC did a trial a few years back, where he dried cubes at 8-12-24 hours....less than 24 hours he saw moisture retention in the fruits,AKA they were getting bendy in the ziplock bag after storage.

So you are saying I actually have to change the desiccants every 60-120 days >:(? Could I vacuum seal the jars themselves?

I don’t know if I bought the correct adapter could you tell me which to buy? (But seriously does charge mean something different in this context?)

Charging means you first place your desiccant packs into the dehydrator to remove the moisture from them or you're putting packs in already containing moisture which then releases bach into the mush over time.

FUCK. There would be no issue with removing them to dehydrate and not redrying the mushrooms right?

I’m actually just this stupid. My gut tells me it doesn’t matter because I open the jars to get stuff out anyways but my heart tells me the desiccants weren’t able to do as good of a job so I might need too.

Okay in that case you can just remove the packs and charge them depending on if your mush is going a bit soft you can always dry them further.
I'm never sure with you, you do post a lot of shit

Thanks for the info. I’ll crack one or two fruits in each jar to make sure they’re still dry

My brother, in the words of Bodhi, keep it simple..don't go completely out of your way for storage , dry them PROPERLY is the most important, store with silica packets..you can use a vacuum sealer of double strong ziplock bags...relax..the magic ain't going nowhere...and by "charge" the desiccant" ...it means to dry them again, most come with instructions...you can microwave some..oven dry some..etc...depends what you are using. I HIGHLY recommend the brand "dry and dry"
