does wet N soggy = DEADLY???
    #2802361 - 06/17/04 02:31 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

I've been cultivating some mushies and so far they've worked wonderfully. unfortunatly, i made the mistake of putting a (not completely dry) shroom in a plastic baggie with the rest of my dry shrooms. i looked this morning and some of them had turned blackish with a little fuzz and a little soggy. i've taken them all out and am re-drying them all. I'm just wondering if it's going to be safe to ingest them after this little mishap. thanks!

sometimes the mushrooms (if they are wet) will continue to grow mycelium after they have been picked.. .BEcause of the moisture the mycelium just keeps on growing.

This is probably what happened. Is it rotting? Or is it just kind of soggy/soft?

If you can take a pic that would be great, otherwise try to give some more details. How did you dry them?

i haven't tried them yet. i'm kinda worrying if i could still take them. i guess if no one's experienced this, no biggie. i'll just not and leave it as a closed case. thanks

It's hard to tell but for how long did you keep the mushrooms inside the bag ?
