I just worked on 14 plates last night so currently I'd need more than the 20 no pours I bought. There were some better containers I finally found so we'll see how they perform Alien style. I'll give it another shot.

I like to tape them shut with micropore, stack, wrap in foil and pressure cook. Saw someone else using bags instead of foil but I forget if they also taped shut.

They don't deform if you turn them open quite a bit. (There needs to be full movement between the inner and outer thread). They are open from the moment they enter the PC untill entirely cooled, then they don't deform.. you can see through them well enough, but I've used these containers since day 1 so I'm used to this. Clear enough if you ask me: I also don't dye agar, if you hold it against a light source you can see enough (at least I can)
Also very easy in the sab.. uncrew, leave lid on top untill you are eady to transfer, screw back on.. never used parafilm.. no need for mp.. but again, if you grow a lot I see why this wouldn't be great & these containers became expensive .

Here's some pictures of those side pins

My guess is that it's just due to my surface conditions... taking your advice and misting the surface.

0t0, those plates are interesting, I was just wondering the other day if there was a plate that existed like those with the screw lid. Iโve amassed a ton of glass dishes but Iโm always Leary of transportation with the glass ones, might have to look into those for some specific cases. Question though do they stand up to dry heat sterilization? Or do you have to do no pours with them in order to reuse? I like the idea of no parafilm or tape. Iโll be keeping my eyes out for them at the recycle center.

I never tried pc without agar, I don't know maybe someone in that tread tried. They are pp. I just prep with agar, use some immediately and save whatever I have left in plastic film to prevent evaporation. Downside is that any cut you make will be visible on the bottom.. so the bottom scars in the course of time, doesn't bother me personally.

Hi Aka, I missed this one. So I am interested in what you are saying about these subtropicalis being hard to compare to cubes.. Do you mean their vibe is totally different.. or do you mean they do feel similar (and therefore hard to compare) on a lower dose? Maybe you can elaborate a bit more on it, just out of curiosity

Gypsum and DE. Iโd recap it about once a week when I could start seeing a little green through the minerals. I had it cased with ph adjusted peat verm, and had gnats really bad in my room from some potting soil from another project. The gnats were really bad in my woodlover tubs, which are looking really good now, and the subtropicalis, but they didnโt seem to bother any of the cubes that were right beside everything. I didnโt use de and gypsum for any other reason than that I just had some right by. The mold, I think it was more like penicillin, just never spread real fast. I had also moved these out of the room with my cubes, and this tub has been running in the 50s-60sf(10-15c) since I saw the mold.

Diatomaceous Earth. Itโs mined diatoms, used in gardening, theyโre like tiny razor dust that get into bugs and tear them up, pest control. I think itโs also a type of desiccant, kind of chalky, donโt want to breath it in. Also used in filters.

Yeah, itโs only a t3 or 4, seems slow compared to some of the others folks have shared on here, (sorry Iโm terrible with actual dates) but it threw some nice big fruits and a couple clusters thatโll be clones. These things have made me work, but itโs about as exciting as seeing the woodlovers fruit after being in the ground for a year or more you know.

What makes it hard? Just the fruits are so small or they don't take for some reason?

Just being so small. I had 2 clean plates out of 3 and the third contamed on the side not on the flesh sample. Just a bitch and a half to handle.

I'm thinking once my fruits mature (so not any time in the far future) I'm going to just cut a piece of stipe (not inner tissue) and toss it on a WA plate.. might be an easy way to clone them ๐ค
