Rye grain contaminated?

First time grower. I looked to see if there were contamination photos like mine but wasn't sure...
Rye grains with a bit of vermiculite in pint jars with agar dropped in SAB on 9/20.
1 of 4 got contaminated and was tossed outside.
These are the 3 remaining. Are they too dry? I added the bit of verm to take up possible excess moisture but maybe went the wrong way.

the verm is making stuff a bit hard to see but i donβt see anything necessarily concerning. shake & see how they recover. if they recovery slowly or weakly youβll know something is up

You can't "add verm" just like that. Unless either the jars were fully colonized or you PC'ed the verm prior???
Anyways, they look fine for now. Get the moisture right next time before PC'ing, it'll save you a lot of trouble

I added a bit of verm into the pint jars after loading the rye berries and gave a shake before PC'ing in all.
I won't do that again. Makes pretty but distracting metallic sparkles.

Yeah I guess that make sense. I originally thought he added the verm post inoc. That said, I'm not sure why one would do that instead of unloading the grain, get it to proper moisture than reload (I imagine timewise verm is a bit faster).

its a great quick fix when youre in a hurry. 2 tablespoons of verm will dry up a quart of soupy grain
