Strange aborted grow.

Good morning everyone. I'm a new poster here. I appreciate all the useful info on the board. I'm wondering if someone has seen this before. I've had numerous successful harvests in the last 6 months. This batch for some reason, seems to have stalled out and then stopped growing completely. My only guess is the room was too cold. Over summer the room was much warmer and as fall approaches the room may need to be kept at a much higher temp. Any thoughts are welcome.

a picture is worth a thousand words but sounds like poor conditions
cold will not do that unless you are talking very cold, so how cold is cold?

your sub looks very dry and myc looks thick also, may or may not have been in a battle already, or that could just be matting from you misting and it drying out repeatedly maybe
certainly nothing to do with temps at 68

I appreciate the reply. I only mist it after I mix the sub with the spawn, then just let it do its thing. My last batch was in a Max Yield bin and I had tons more than needed. The 1 misting seemed to work perfectly on that.

all you can do at this point is try to add some moisture to your surface by misting, or dunking the cake and hoping it will do better on the next round
I take it this is a kit of some sort that you bought? They are not entirely reliable, but honestly I think most of the issue is lack of moisture. The no droplets at all on your tub seems to say that it is bone dry in there

Thank you so much. I bought the spore syringes, the grain bags and the substrate from 3 different places. I'm kinda new at this... This pic is from the last batch so something definitely went wrong. So is it a good idea to mist more often. Seems likely.

have a read of that for understanding how the surface of your substrate should look
next time take your syringes and apply them to the PF Tek (PF jars you made yourself, leave the habit of buying pre-made shit now and you will be happy sooner). You will have better results and less trouble and surely save some money compared with all the pre-made shit and noc'ing grains directly with a spore syringe. This is a well tested route that rarely produces good results. Stick with the shit that works properly. Syringes are for PF or to put to agar
if you have a real taste for the hobby and want to get in deep then I recommend you immediately learn agar work, alongside your growing of the PF tek. This will allow you to do things you could only dream of achieving from a syringe. You can keep a culture you like this way for repeatable and dependable results. Spores is a genetic game of dice, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose
all that and other stuff, here is some good places to start

read my friend, read... you will go far
all the best with it
