First time with Peyote. 2

Please bear with me as I write this, I'm slowly transitioning back to normal but still feel a bit off kilter. Also, a little deprived of sleep. But I feel it's best to get these things typed out while the experience is fresh in memory.
So earlier today I came across an old tin that I've had sitting aside for a while now. Inside there was about 15g of dried peyote saved for when a time is right kind of scenario & a capsule with a little bit of MDMA in it that I had completely forgotten was even there. I'm not really a huge fan of MDMA. But seeing as it had been many years since I had experienced it, there wasn't that much & I had no obligations for the day. I thought why the hell not & took the dose.
I had arranged to meet up with a friend for a few beers. The MDMA worked as expected. I was having a pretty chill time just basking in the sun, mildly rolling and enjoying some cold brews and good banter. But not long after we parted ways and I found myself back at home. More curious about the peyote than I was before the MDMA kicked in. I don't know where the impulse came from. I decided then and there that there was no time better than now to have my first experience with peyote & after downing the first capsule there was no turning back, the other fourteen were sure to follow...
I have only had experience with San Pedro tea a few times in the past. From memory the experiences were very empathogenic but still comparatively gentle when compared to the upfront effects one would get from dosing MDMA. A very clean experience indeed, but nothing to write home about & in no way visual. that was my impression of the mescaline experience. Though nothing could've prepared me for what was to come.
...After downing the last capsule, I decided to walk towards the beach so I could watch the sun set. Hopefully as the cacti takes ahold. I felt a little spacey initially as I walked down, but this could've been from the little bit of MDMA I had earlier, so I shrugged it off. About an hour and a half in I began to notice the first effects. My vision started to change as though the vibrance on everything had been turned up. The general scenery around me and the colors that make them up just appeared so vivid. As if everything I was looking at appeared as a picture-perfect painting. Around the same time. I also begun to notice a slight pain or tenderness around my neck and shoulders. As if I had worked those muscles during some prior exercise. But with no explanation.
I had finally reached the shore and felt compelled to sit on the rocks and watch the sun dip into the horizon. Here's a couple photos;

As I was sitting there on the rocks, I found myself transfixed on watching the waves roll in slowly bringing up the tide with it. Paying attention to every minute detail. The colors, the sounds and even the smell. The attention to detail became more prominent and involuntary as time progressed. I sat there perfectly calm and content all the while I could feel something was brewing.
As it started to get dark, I felt like wandering around. Trying to decipher this curious new state of mind. Things started getting weirder at this point. I started noticing fluid textile like patterns form on various surfaces. Where they would Continue on with the original pattern but sporadically elaborate on itself with new intricate shapes and colors, this became extremely vivid with the eyes closed. Objects started to appear as though they had waves of energy surrounding them. Some strands of this field would occasionally break off in the form of a distorted wave of light shooting to the prereferral vision. In some instances where I would get a flash of light from things I glanced over, it would leave prominent tracers of light and color. For some reason my mind would randomly add additional lights of varying colors to these distortions as if to expand on the original visual input & make it more aesthetic overall. Alot of these visuals I had felt very fluid. Like they were these overly detailed little pieces of some larger puzzle that happened to fit perfectly with the previous piece. Darting my eyes across the clear night sky was surreal. The vivid tailing coupled with phantom, colored lights and ever evolving patterns made it look as though the night sky was alive and the stars were dancing. On one occasion I was passing an icecream parlor where all these people out the front were enjoying their various flavors. As I walked past my brain just started signaling all these Familiar sweet tastes like it was trying guess what they were having. this faux sense of taste would come and go sporadically.
It's probably worth mentioning that at some point during all this I began to feel a mild pins and needles like vasoconstriction in my hands. A ring that I was wearing on my middle finger started to feel a little tight and after taking it off, I wasn't able to fit it back on. Definitely some slightly swollen sweaty hands for a few hours before I was able to fit that ring back on. At no point was I anxious about this, or for anything for that matter. I felt abnormally calm and peaceful towards everything. I seriously can't remember the last time I felt so tranquil about life in general.
Eventually I made it back home later in the evening. irises were still faint rings around my pupils and I was certainly still tripping pretty hard at this point, though was starting to feel mentally exhausted. I attempted to smoke some cannabis to try and wind down. But it had absolutely no effect on me. My mind was active through the night & sleep escaped me. Its been about 20 hours since I dosed the peyote yesterday & things still feel somewhat serene but almost back to normal. I'm just tired now more than anything else.

Very nice write up of your experience! Sounds like you had some great visuals, and a really mellow trip.I have never tried mescaline, but I have a San Pedro growing in the back yard for that purpose. The guy I bought it from said to "peel it with a potato peeler to remove the thorns, and outer waxy layer". But I think one needs to ingest a LOT of it, like a 8-12" section, and it might taste really gross. I suppose I could chop it up like a cucumber and toss it in a salad. With peyote, I have seen documentaries of people just eating the sections of cactus, but you used capsules. I'll bet the strichnine was removed to eliminate the nausea also. I hope you're able to get a good nights sleep tonight!

Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s inspiring. I’m actually planning on planting some loph seeds that I received from a friend come tomorrow evening. Looking forward to a few years down this path and getting to know them..(but first the trichs) Funny though, It’s not the first time I’ve read that the stars were dancing…

I don’t want to derail this thread, but, Please don’t listen to the guy you bought them from… Taking a potato peeler is absolutely overkill and will result in the loss of a lot of the sought after material. Just read read read everything you can before you embark. A lifelong relationship needn’t be rushed you know?

My first and only experience with Peyote was a LONG time ago, but I will never forget it. I was with 2 friends in a motel by the Salton Sea in southern California. We each had a dried button, they chewed the bitter bark like piece. I cut mine into little pieces and swallowed them like pills. Both of them got sick and yawned a rainbow. Then they both tripped, one had a good time, the other had a bad trip. (Turns out she had unresolved life issues and should not have taken the peyote.) It took about 4 hours for my peyote to hit me. I had a wonderful feeling and the visuals were amazing. I had no nausea or GI distress at all and the colors and visions I saw were beautiful. The view out the window was of some ratty looking palm trees, with mountains in the distance. As the sun was setting, the colors of the sky were incredibly beautiful, the palms were the most beautiful I had ever seen. The next morning I took a photo of those palms as a reminder of how wonderful they appeared while on mescaline. I got a San Pedro cuttings off Ebay a few years ago and just let it grow huge. Last week I cut a good section of it, removed the tiny thorn "dots", and then sliced it into 1 inch segments. I filled a whole tray of my food dehydrator and dried them overnight. The total dry weight was just over 15 grams. I ground up the dried pieces in a coffee grinder, resulting in a fine powder. I loaded the powder into 000 gel capsules and I wound up with 42 dried cactus "pills". Now all I need is the courage to take some of those pills. I am a lot older now and my last several experiences were with Psilocybe cubensis, and that was years ago. I cultured and grew them myself from a spore print I got from an ad in "High Times" magazine. (That gives you an idea of how long ago). Anyway, I just wanted to share my experiences. I'll add a few photos of the cactus I processed too. (If I can figure out how to upload those images)
