Black pin mold :(
    #26068818 - 06/23/19 05:57 AM (5 years, 6 months ago)

Just noticed a small thin patch of black pinhead mold about the size of a silver dollar on a colonizing coir substrate tray. I know you will all wanna see pics but I don't wanna break the seal on my lid just yet :P It looks just like cobweb with little black heads on it but its still very early and thin (within 24 hours). I'm certain its contaminated with some form of black pinhead mold but its my first time dealing with it. I know about all the dangers of black molds but is it possible to recover? Everything in me is saying "throw it away" and "not worth the risk" but I thought it would be fun to see if I can save it:P I'm just wondering if anyone has actually ever recovered from black pin head or if id be wasting time experimenting with it.

Did you conduct the experiment? If so what was the result?

Yep, toss it. You could leave it outside if the climate was agreeable to it but I'd cut my losses, makes great compost.
