I’m so glad someone linked this post to my inquiry! I too scoured the internet and could find minimal info on pouring THEN sterilizing. I just pc’d mine last night and am patiently waiting to see if any contam shows on my control. My process was just about the same l. Wrapped in foil, individual paradigm today in my SAB. Any speed bumps you ran into to look out for?

aside from just handling them carefully & only wrapping/unwrapping in an SAB or in front of a flowhood, if the plates aren’t fully dry on the outside sometimes the wrap can slip off. that’s about the only thing i can think of

Way cool write up! I have started using my glass plates for no pours after seeing you and Derayld having such good luck with them.
I'm such a dummy I always wondered how you wrapped them up with foil after putting the hot agar in...haha... I never even considered LETTING THEM COOL OFF.

yoo thank you sandman!! i hella appreciate it. they are such sick no pour containers & i'm shocked they don't seem to be more popular on here
if i had a dollar for every time i missed some really obvious shit in this hobby i'd be a rich man. i wondered the same thing when i first went to use them & had a big "no shit" moment when i realized i could just wait 5 minutes & then wrap them

I just got 100 HG plates anf i regret not seeing this thread before i pulled the trigger on em. Ive always done no pour pasteys but wanted more viz, thought HG'S were the ticket but afyer the pc alot of them have this wierd film that wont come off. Even after a soak in vinegar and a iso bath. Plus some of then warped. I expected that after reading aliens HG plate thread. Gonna have to chalk that up to a lessoned learned and grab some glass.. I just hate the foil BS!! i wonder of theres a way to get around all the damn foil

I have not yet tried them but I've got some on the way. I also hate dealing with all the foil. FYI the ones I linked are only supposed to fit up 90mm plates. I've yet to find any that fit 100mm but also haven't looked that hard.

Sorry I kind of glossed over the fact you are aiming for no pours. I do poured and I sterilize my glass plates in the oven so size isn't really an issue. I should be getting mine in a few days though and can report back if they fit in a 23q presto.

This is with one row of mason jar lids below the trivet. Looks like I have about 10" of space. Seems like it would still work.

As a fellow dumbass, I feel that. If you do figure out a good way to do no pours with glass petris I would be interested to hear about it though. I've been thinking about trying it out.

Start by reading the beginning of this thread. Thats how hazy does it. I just dont like the tin foil bs. But with what u linked it can be avoided
Load the pc with the glass petris already poured and take it to the sab or ffu after n let the outside of the plates dry and wrap with cling.
The only thing i would add is those containers u linked may need a few pieces of MP tape on em to keep things sterile while removing them from the PC

Great infos thank you,
i just got mine, i was playing arround and i figure out something tell me if it will work.
i had used spawn bags, i clean them up,
then i put some glass petri in them, close them up with an impulse sealer, and i plan to PC them for 1h.
if it worked as intented it will got cleaned and bagged petri good for storage,
thoughts ?
edit: same idea but already with agar in it.?

I was trying to find one of these for 60mm dishes and came across "stainless steel disinfection jars" (some places call them "cotton swab holders"). They're just stainless steel cans, they're much cheaper than the real deal.
They come in all different diameters and heights so they could fit in a regular PC. I'm guessing they won't seal tight. I've ordered a 65mm x 105mm can, I'll update with how it goes
