iβd venture to guess a lot of people here have at least had a close call or two lol. i used an old ski deck, laid it across the PC bottom & hit it with a rubber mallet, but if you have a flat piece of wood that would probably be better. i canβt really advocate for the safety of doing this obviously but my PC has been doing fine for awhile now

Foil was off the plates, and they were in stacks of 5 (glass) or 6 (PP5).
I waited for the agar to cool before putting the lids on to PC.
SAB was totally sealed. My SAB is a tote placed upside-down on its lid, with a towel on the lid so the air gap is sealed. I covered the atm holes with foil, taped on.
Maybe I should skip the towel next time, so there's a little air gap? Do you spray your SAB down and spray inside to settle the air before using it to dry the plates? I did this as a matter of course, but maybe it made it too humid inside.

i think the problem was that it was totally sealed. if there wasnβt any air exchange i could see it staying way too moist in there. i use a flowhood now, but when i used my SAB i would generally just do a quick iso wipe or leave it dry, leave the foil wrapped plates in there for 20minutes or so to let the air settle & then would carefully unwrap. i would mist a little sometimes but i made sure to not spray the walls to heavily (i also have a very fine hair dresser mister so i wasnβt blasting huge drops all over it). i think the foil over the armholes was probably the worst offender of keeping moisture in. i usually just draped a clean tshirt or two over the arm holes & pushed it in to the holes slightly so that there wasnβt any free flowing air going in. i think that helped facilitate a bit more evaporation

Secondly the name brands have a cover that its shorter than the dish which makes handling, opening, and wrapping much easier.
I'll give this no pour another try. I have stainless sleeves that I can PC which has a rack inside to hold them. I did it with the two holes open, so next time, I'll keep those closed so the plates are not so wet. Also, had to modify the base so that my agar was not slanted.
Where did you get the stainless sleeves with a rack? Is it a kitchen tool?

Thanks, these are great tips for a noob to homemade agar, like me. You should consider adding them to your write-up!

iβm always happy to help!! itβs definitely some stuff that may not be super obvious to people new to it but is easy to gloss over when youβve already got an understanding. probably wouldnβt hurt to add the info into the main post, thanks for the idea (:

looking a bit better with the condensation!! iβve found ambient temps really affect the amount of condensation on my glass plates too. some days they are crystal clear & others they are obscured by condensation if i donβt move them to a warmer spot

Thanks man. The ones in a pp5 are clearing up. Im gonna test leaving them in a shoe box in my closet next; Sirpyscho style.
Still trying to figure out how to get good photos with optimal lighting.
The clarity even with some condensation is amazing!

amen to that. feels good to keep plastic out of landfills. idk if iβll ever feel comfortable enough to not wrap my dishes, but sir pβs results are looking super promising. my plate has remained clean so far, but a few weeks is gonna be the real test. would be great to not have to toss away wrap if i donβt have to.
@JHOVA: dude the visibility in the glass petris is top notch. like you said, even with a bit of condensation it kicks the shit out of a traditional no-pour

Can you guys please not ruin Hazy's thread? It's about loving glass petris and not about other options. We all now that pp5 works, but that's not the topic of this thread. So please keep it together guys
