Can someone tell me why you can’t just toss the jars in the dish washer? It’s what I do. Seems to work fine. What am I missing?

My dishwasher sucks ass and leaves water spots all over my jars and lids so I hand wash. I guess I’ll have to find a new dishwasher but damnit I love her and she has a real fat booty.

I never cared about the water spots on jars doesn't hurt anything. Lids I don't do with hot water it makes them rust faster. I just use a little plastic brush on lids running under cool water then immediately pat their surfaces dry.

Dishwasher works for most things but for my pan cakes and exotic cakes which have straw and manure etc, the dishwasher doesn’t clean them fully so needs bottle brush first and then into the dishwasher.

Because a dishwasher is extremely limited in capacity when it comes to quart jars. 2 hours for a measly dozen or so jars? No thanks.

I bought a dishwasher just for jars when I first started, and it literally never gets used for them anymore.

I'd spend more time loading and unloading the dishwasher than I would cleaning jars with a drill brush.

I havent washed a jar in nearly 10 years. Dump out the leftover grain, put new grain in and pc.

If a jar is especially bad I may give it a quick rinse but that's it.

You know every  time I empty a jar o have that thought. They’re really not very dirty on the inside.

@nate yeah I've heard of that. Washing is only really for clarity. For me it's a bit of an OCD thing, it feels wrong not to wash jars, though that's not to say I won't give it a try in the future.

@rum damn I guess y'all need those XL dishwashers for all that XL food yous be eating over there  I also have one of those portable sink hookups and it's pretty fucking big so yours must be massive. Do your dishwashers have 2 large racks where quarts would fit on both? Here in the UK our top racks are always really high up and only for smaller things

@Smelly - yeah shit gets sterilised anyhow

They don’t give you guys clearance for even a quart jar on the upper rack?

I can fit a quart jar but not anything taller.

 This Murica here we need things big to over compensate! Mine seems standard size here two large racks top and botton a quart jar maxes out the height on the top rack. Its  a Whirlpool model DP840SWSX0

Not what I bought it for, but a table spoon of citric acid in the dish washer gets rid of water spots from hard water. Makes whites whiter and brights brighter in laundry, too. I feel like such a queen of clean.

Also good in a water bath to remove hard water deposits from shower and faucet heads. Way cheaper and safer than CLR.

Good in and on gummys, too. And a great preservative diluted on sliced fruits and veggies before dehydrating.

Alright, I will stop now.

But wait, there's more...
