What is your preferred method for prepping WBS and why?

I only used WBS once and I simmered.  Firstly it was faster than soaking overnight and secondly the heat coming off the grain supposedly helped dry the grains out (I don't think this actually worked though).  Drying the grain was a royal pain in the ass.  I had trays of grain all over the damn house.  Looked like Big Bird moved into my house and opened up a damn restaurant

Haha yeah I know the feeling.

What do you use now instead and what's your process for prep?

Welcome To Shroomery! :mushroom2:

Foo's method works for me. See How Foo Prepares Wild Bird Seed. You could also rince before simmer Reverse FooMan WBS Prep.

Honestly, after the WBS debacle I tried corn and oats which I've found much easier  with decent results. One day I'll return to WBS--unless it ends up outside in the feeder

I used wbs for many years, soak for a day and dry prior to loading.
