My innovation on a growth chamber
    #2800235 - 06/16/04 08:46 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

Hey... I am a first time grower, but also a perfectionist... so if I do it I wnat to do it right and properly. Thats why I read up on most basic and advanced techniques, went out to buy a small mist machine and built a nice airtight growth chamber... attached is a diagram of my final thing...

well.. never having grown mushrooms before I wonder if any of your experiences tell you "oh.. that part is a bad idea" ..... I am mainly looking for errors in my thinking rather then an assessment of real necessity or just simplifications since this has allready been built.... making it simpler is actually more work... so.. any usefull feedback?

I dont know what you mean by mist machine, I am thinking you mean cool mist humidifier? Why would you have the air input from the coolmist under water? Perhaps instead you should run your air pump through your air tubing and and have your airstone bubbling through water. You could then have the input from the coolmist above the water level. Then just have the air pump running 24/7 and determine how often your coolmist will need to be turned on for an added boost of RH.

well this "mist machine" is actually a part of a small water fountain that consists of a large bowl, some chrystals a little fountain and a small machine that produces water vapour that then covers the water surface and looks good. I thought that this was a good and cheap method of getting my small chamber to the right humidity.... if I leave it in all the time the mist or fog in there becomes so dense that I cant see the bottom and as far as i know that is too much... the machine has to be under water and mist just bubbles up.

possible... well anyway.. it does the job of creating moisture.... how about the liquid water underneath the wire mesh support? is that a problem?
