Bruising or contamination?

Obligatory "I'm new at this" speech...
Birthed this Oak Ridge cake about a week ago along with two others. No signs of pins on any other cake and this one guy produced this single shroom. But I noticed this blue splotch next to the mushroom a few days ago. Thought it might be bruising until I noticed the blue on the mushroom itself. If this is contam I'm assuming I should remove it.
Also, is it common for no pins to form in over a week? I have PE and Golden Teachers that were birthed at the same time and they have no pins either. Just wondering if this is normal.

Looks like bruising to me. Your friend looks thirsty.
Edit: would I be correct in assuming youโre fruiting it in a shotgun fruiting chamber?

I am not a real expert so take my word with caution.
This cake looks fine, this should be bruising, did you touch it here or a drop of water fall here ?
But it seems have few primordia on it, perhaps a lack a humidity ?

Yes SGFC. Constantly held at 97% - 99% rh and sprayed about twice per day. I was under the impression that watering more than that would be excessive.

Makes sense, although sgfcโs are difficult to maintain ideal conditions with unless theyโre stuffed with cakes. Typically, you want to mist when the surface is no longer covered in tiny water droplets. You may find that a water tub or Faht locks are easier to maintain conditions with.

Id try and get a thicker verm casing next time mate. the verm sucks up waters and releases it slowly to create a good microclimate for pinning. Evaporation is a primary pinning trigger but if there is too much evap and the cake dries out its surface in between misting it may not pin very well at all. Id suggest doing a dunk after that one fruits and rolling in a layer of verm, if not much sticks then lightly mist the cake again with water and re roll.
I think once its cased more then you should pin up alright. KROM also had two great suggestions.
