What is this business?

Hello, So I just tossed a tub the other day after the soak from first flush because where I had cut the fruits from the substrate had gone slimy and looked like it had puss. These shrooms are from a completely different strain and are the first flush. I’m wondering if it is some sort of bacteria infection or what exactly this looks like? Thanks

That looks like a bacterial infection to me. Is your tub super fucking wet? Bacteria usually thrive in wetter environments.

Hmm maybe… I have un modded tubs and have to dry the water that pools in the corners, but I’m pretty sure I’ve always done that. So I’m not completely sure, I thought my field capacity was pretty standard, but maybe I could go a little dryer next time

I use pasty’s updated ez dial mono setup. No micropore tape or larger than 1/4in holes.

This seems pretty great, thanks
I have high humidity, so I imagine I’ll have to make the extra adjustments, but can you tell me what the consequences are of too much humidity for references?

There really isn't such a thing as too high humidity. You just want as much passive FAE as possible without losing proper humidity and surface conditions. Surface conditions are in a link in my sig. Mushrooms love fresh air and humidity both so you have to balance to efficiently have as much of both as you can with minimal effort. So drill small holes like the newer version says and if your surface conditions won't maintain like the link i have says then you just put some 3M micropore tape on some holes and dial it in for your ambient environment.

Yeah, humidity isn't an issue. As long as you have enough airflow, the mycelium can regulate its own surface conditions and sort of sweat out excess moisture. But when you've got a ton of humidity and very little airflow, it's easy to get lots of condensation and water pooling in your substrate. When your substrate is waterlogged and lacking oxygen, the growth of anaerobic microbes is promoted.
