Do you strictly recommed foil? I started to do my cube and nat prints on sterile paper, but I didn't have time to check the outcome in terms of ease of use and cleanliness.

I'm a bit concerned because couple of older looking fruits are a somewhat bruised blue on stems

So.. All of my Subs ended up aborting. 4 months of waiting for this.. I'm not liking this species so far I have to say 😬
Do you guys think there's any hope in rehydrating and maybe recasing this cake? Or should I throw the entire thing?

Oh no! Sorry Adas. As slow as these things are, I know how incredibly frustrating that is. I see no problem with trying to rehydrate and re-case the cake. Maybe try changing up the environment parameters a bit for the next fruiting?

I don't know what I should change for mushrooms not to abort. I haven't had this problem before. And I've literally fruited Bisporus in the same setup, at the same time. There seems to be a lot of brown metabolites around the sides, but not sure how that happened or if it's even the cause of the aborting. Maybe flushing the metabolites by dunking the cake will help a bit?
It all seems to have started going south after I've misted them one time.

Did you pick aborted fruits? I hope you didn't dump them...
I would say dump the cake, I see restoring it as an impossible act, but maybe someone more experienced than me thinks otherwise. Considering a long waiting time between flushes, I wouldn't do that, and if even ripe healthy fruits aborted, I would suppose myc can't hold against the contam.
Btw did you top it with peat? I got this same mold on my pan grow, and all my semps triched after casing with peat; whether it was bad sterilization or something else, I myself will stay away from peat for now.
Anyway, don't opt out, brother! I can feel the frustration, but also I believe in this mushroom exceptionality, you should try again. Would you remind me what was your method?

Metabolites and brown-yellow colors are normal with subtrop. I'll take some shots of my bottles when I get home.
I still believe that white on the surface of your casing is contam though

Of course I picked the fruits. They were VERY waterlogged at the base, don't think I've seen that before.
Yes it's a peat-containing casing layer. My method was literally just spawning some into my universal mix (leeched horse shit + sawdust). Then I waited too long before finally casing it, and had to wait 3 months after full colonization for first pins.
Thanks for the help guys! Charcoal should be in the game soon, that'll be my next gen casing material

Are any of you having good results without a casing with these?

The pics I just posted had a thin top layer of coir applied at spawning. Next time will be no top layer just to see.
Substrate was just coir.
This is the same clone as is in the jug about 2-3 weeks prior to harvest. The bucket was just shy of 30g dry. The pinset in the jug is better. The bucket was also spawn/coir with a coir topper at spawning time.

Ok, cool. I did a thin top layer at spawning like I do for basically everything else(CV for substrate). I'll let that ride and see where it goes.

That's a T2 MS in the bag which is the F2 of the ms that clone came from. The MS that clone came from has a better pinset then the clone does but it likes to throw out beefier mushrooms than the MS does.
That clone is from my outdoor grow last summer.
