A weapon of some sort, it's pretty shady out there. A big club would work nicely.

I always chill at Alpine towards the top of the hill on a blanket it's not to crowded and you still get a great view from ontop of the hill.

That is a wonderful idea. I'd bring shade for the lot also, a couple small seats, a cooler, sanitary wipes for the outhouses, your own TP, a mist bottle for the heat, water, beers, nugs, shrooms.

I've only been at the roskilde in denmark. You can always make it with minal things someway or another. But a portable gas stove, a portable cd player and inflatable chairs was what was missing for our part last year.

Food is always an essentail, more money than you initally think you'll need... drugs...cant think of anything else

I've never ever once been busted except for Bonnaroo. They only told me to take it back to camp and then I just went to a different gate. Find a good spot it's not hard, lots of clothes that are in with the Dead crowds have secret pockets all over the place.

Just know that your blanket will get trampled and disrespected. And if you like to dance, don't bother- unless you are going very early and are going to be sitting a lot. Because no one sits at a dead show unless it's drums and space. (that's my favorite time to dance though  ).

Try to not bring more than what you can fit in your pockets because it will get trampled and/or lost.

cash is pretty important!

And like baraka said, good vibes! You are going to LOVE your Dead experience. Have a magical, beautiful show, brother!

We freezed a lot of bottled water this year and that worked pretty good keeping the cooler cool. Ice can get expensive with two coolers. Also cut the tops offs milk jugs and freeze blocks of ice. Using towels and shade help keep the cooler iced up longer. If you bring some burgers, freeze em and put em in a ziplock. Helps keep the cooler cold as well.

I think a hat is a very important item to bring. When you're in the middle of a shadeless field and the sun is beating down a good broad-brimmed hat will do you a lot of good. Even a ball cap will at lest keep the sun off the top of your head.

Baraka's tips about freeezing water jugs is a good one too. I've been doing that for years.

put your stash & pipe in your undies (wear tighty whiteys) because they will pat you down. You probably could find a place to chill on your blanket, but if it is anywhere close to the front, it will get danced on. And yeah, when you dance, just let go, no one cares how freaky you get! You are going to love it. Have a great time!

a good thing for guys to do if they wear boxers and have a pipe sleave is tie the string of the sleeve around the button of your boxers, you can fit a couple good nugs in there with the sleeve. The best part is if they feel that they are thinking you are stacked. They usually aren't to touchy in that area.
